12AU7 / ECC82, Matched Pair (2 tubes)

Had a matched pair of the tubes I needed at a fair price.

These 12au7 tubes are magical. Musical, smooth and tonally accurate. Love em'.

Put these in my Rogue audio Sphinx v1. Sounds great with stock tubes, but I thought why not see what upgraded tubes sound like. Put these in and the gain went down considerably and the magic tube sound took on a clinical sounding, harsh high almost like a low dollar solid state amp. Pulled these and put the stock tubes back in and the magic was back. Going to give the mullards a shot at half the price. The packaging on these is also lackluster. Lucky my Amazon delivery driver has soft hands or they would have arrived busted.

These Genalex 12AU7 matched pair tubes sound great. powerful well controlled bass, full midrange and smooth high frequencies. They are also very quiet tubes. The price is nice too!

i have read a lot of hype about these Russian made tubes. mostly good reports on sound and construction. i realize that tube rolling can be fun and frustrating at the same. the great thing about Amazon, one can return mostly anything. for my PrimaLuna EVO 200 which uses 12au7 in the input stage and 12ax7 as the preamp. i have over the years, tried many both NOS and reissued, not only in PrimaLuna , but Jolida, Rouge preamps and amps. the same tube sounds different in every system. the GoldLions sound terrible in both 12au7 &12ax7 on the primaluna preamp. best way to explain, is not bright on the tippy top treble, but extremely bright in the mid range, no bass, no treble, but if one could like this sound in their system, the imaging isnt too bad, and sound stage, however for me, after 15minutes of listening, i have to turn it off. speaking of sound volume, at low levels not too shabby, but turn it up and forget about it. by the way, my power amp is rotel rb1590.

Good quality and service

I have to admit that I got them from Vivatubes. My Luxman cl-38uc preamp takes five of them. The stock tubes were JJs, with dry, solid state-like sound. So, Genalex came matched with attached measurements. After 3-4 days of listening the sound became very open and smooth. So far, these are the best new production 12au7s. They need just a few days to sound really great. In the attached picture the ones with no cans are the GLs. No regrets and highly recommended.

After I replaced the 12ax7 n 12au7 the sound immediately changed more bass n dynamic!

used in my Belles 22a preamp. warmer sound than the supplied electoharmonix tubes.
