I've been using Just for Men Control GX Beard Wash for years and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon, at least until my wife decides she actually prefers the gray! For anyone expecting instant results, this isn't that kind of product. It's designed to reduce gray gradually and that's exactly why I like it. I have dark brown hair but for some reason my beard has been the only thing turning gray for well over a decade and it seems like it gets grayer every year. As long as I use this once or twice a week, it keeps the gray at bay and maintains the look I want without making it obvious that I'm using a coloring product. I've had a beard for over 20 years, usually kept around 8–10 mm in length. Whenever I trim it, it's typically on a Friday night or Saturday morning. After trimming, I'll use Control GX once or twice over the weekend to bring the color back to what it looked like before the trim. From there, I usually only need one application during the week to keep everything looking consistent. One tip for long-time users: toward the end of the bottle, it seems like there's a much higher concentration of dye left compared to the shampoo. Rather than using it straight, I've found that it works much better to start a new bottle and mix in a small amount of dye from the old bottle during each use. I've been doing this for a long time and it gives me stronger, more consistent results while letting me go longer between applications. It's also incredibly easy to use. One thing I learned early on is to apply it with your palms instead of your fingertips. The dye stains your fingernails after repeated use (I noticed it after about half a dozen applications), but using your palms avoids that problem completely. Another big plus is that it doesn't irritate my skin or scalp so it should be gentle enough for people with sensitive skin. I will also mention that both the wife and daughter have been using it to occasionally help dye their eyebrows and they both have extremely sensitive skin and they've never complained about it at all. First off the product does exactly what it says. When used overtime it will slowly gradually reduce your grey hairs. As stated by other reviews, the first time I used it I left it in for 5 minutes and I did this twice daily for about 4 days. By the fifth day most of my grey hairs were covered up and then I switched to using it as a regular beard wash every other day leaving it in for 3 minutes this time without having to think about touching it really which is a huge bonus. You have to experiment to see which routine works best for you but do not give up, it does work. Oh be sure to wear gloves or use your palm and not your finger tips to apply it to your beard because it can and will stain your finger tips and nails. Also it is gently on my beard and skin compared to other dye products that I've used (including other Just for Men beard dyes). It smells pretty decent also. So yeah going forward this will be my only beard dye products. It's fairly cheap, you get a decent amount in the bottle and you just lather your beard, wait three minutes while you shower and just rinse it out. Very easy and highly recommended

Smells nice, better than the purple bottle THK thickening version (which smells more like hair dye, bleh). Works slowly & subtly so you don't suddenly look like you have a fake dark beard and everyone knows you're coloring. I'm not sure about this, but it seems like this brown bottle version (non-THK) might be less effective than the purple bottle THK (thickening) version. This perception could simply be coincidence with how I've used it, since I alternate using that until the bottle's gone, then I use a bottle of this, and so on. I use it about 2-3 times per week to maintain. What's nice is you can choose how often to use to subtly hide some grey, or keep using daily to keep increasing its effect, or use once in a while to maintain subtle camouflaging. Sky's the limit so to speak. IMPORTANT: when they say don't leave this on your nails, THEY MEAN IT! This stuff stains your nails QUICKLY! Use gloves or rinse off your nails *immediately*, and this even includes your toenails when you rinse while standing in the shower, pay attention to that too, lift your toes or make sure they're in the water stream- you've been warned. Unless you don't mind your nails looking dark and dirty, but chances are if you're using this stuff to begin with, then you care about your appearance. ALSO IMPORTANT: Don't expect immediate results, it takes time to start having a noticeable effect, and they explain this. TIP, you can apply this standing at the sink and leave on longer than the 2-3 minutes they recommend, for greater & faster effect. Personally I think 2-3 minutes is too little time, but that's me.

I’ve been using this product for some time, and it does work as advertised. It is a bit messy, and you might stain your nails or the shower in the process of using it. You will not see any results after your first use unless you allow it to remain on for quite some time (like 10+ min). If you desire that very gradual change then this is ideal. It will take a couple of weeks of use to notice any dramatic changes over your original color. Of course, if you want to keep it at some desired level of darkness you will need to consistently use this product. As for the staining of nails, it is quite difficult to remove with just soap and water, I found either use gloves (kind of a pain) or wash you can wash fingers in bleach briefly and then wash in soap in water. That quickly solves the issue. POSITIVES: • Will gradually darken beard over time • Has conditioners to soften beard • Easy to use like shampoo NEGATIVES: o Somewhat messy o Will stain nails, some skin types and shower o Requires frequent and consistent use to maintain o Can be difficult to find in stock CONCLUSIONS While I like the result of the just-for-men beard product, it is not a perfect product, and it can be messy to deal with if you are not careful. It is common to stain something that is unintentional and clean-up can be more of a chore than the actual use of the product. Generally, if you are careful, it is not that bad, however. Many times, when I have looked for it, it is out of stock so that is another issue. All that said it does a reasonable job of restoring the color to your facial hair over time. The cost is reasonable, but you will be roped into using it until you want a white beard. This is my honest opinion of this item. I hope it was helpful to you. 4 Stars RECOMMENDED.

Subtle, effective, hassle free, and (currently) fairly priced. But, read and take the instructions seriously. Don't be THAT smurf. I use in the shower: Wash my hair then move to the beard. Wet beard and apply like you would regular hair/shampoo except leave it in and avoid getting more water in it. Wash hands with soap/water immediately after applying. Then soap up and wash the rest of body. Come back to rinse beard at the end. (No more soap needed.) Probably 5 minutes total. Seems to get stronger and more consistent results with that setting time. Never a problem with staining (hands, feet, face, or otherwise). I've noticed that it has a very slight burning sensation while it is working and once it stops, it's time to rinse. I use half dollar size amount for a full, but short, beard (#5 or #6 on hair clippers). But, it's fine to use a more when starting out, until you get a feel for it. When I started my beard was nearly full Santa Claus while my hair was brown with a touch of grey at temples. Took about 3 or 4 times before it matched my hair. I don't see a change until the day after washing, when my beard has had a chance to work the oils back into itself though. So patience. (They sell other products for immediate color, if that's your game.) After I get it where I want it I just use it once or twice a week. It comes out as your beard grows. So, if you see yourself getting a touch too much grey, use it the next time you shower. (This package lasts me nearly 4-5 months if that tells you anything.) After a couple months I feel like the color gets too dark in the thicker parts and so I let it go 50% grey again. Then start over. I have experimented with only applying to problem areas. Seems to work, but also annoying to be so particular, and have to use a mirror, in the shower when all you want is to get on with things though. Edit -- Notes after 1.5 years of use: - I noticed that I developed a _slight_ heat rash on my sternum, and It persisted into winter. Apparently I have sensitive skin. Simple pass with soap and water on the affected area, after the final rinse, cleared it up over a couple weeks. I forget half the time and am fine. - I also use a regular beard wash (Viking brand, nothing special) on days I don't use this, to keep my beard looking and smelling nice, and it doesn't seem to affect the results or duration.
