It's great for when you want to cook, read, art, crafts, clean the house or garage etc. Most of the time I use a lower wattage for watching TV, relaxing etc. **Q: how many are in a pack?** A: 4 **Q: Is this the same size and shape as a regular incandescent bulb?** A: Most incandescent light bulbs increase in size as the wattage increases. I have tried a few companies that had high lumens, however, nothing satisfied me. My kitchen has a dark appearance , as a result, of the paint which has a beige color, and does not let the light reflect against the wall. Therefore, I bought the xprimo 14 watt bulbs that were 16oo lumens, however even though they were the brightest from most bulbs, they were still not bright enough as the room still felt dark. After, I bought these 17 watt bulbs which are very big in size. The kitchen is now bright enough to use with comfort, and I can see what I am doing there. I would prefer a brighter bulb, however, that is just me and they are very expensive, plus, I already spent a nice amount of money on the 14 and 17 watters. It is very important to know, (both for the 14 watt bulb and the 17 watt bulb) that the bulbs get as hot as incandescent bulbs and you can burn your finger if you touch the aluminum part of the bulb. The plastic doesn't get hot, but it is easy to, by mistake, touch the aluminum part, so be careful.Update 04/30/2018: I had this product for 5 or 6 months, and one of the bulbs is flickering and became very dim. I used to tell all my friends to buy this product, since they were the brightest that I was able to find. However, now I will warn them that they only will last for about 6 months. In addition, amazon would not replace the bulb that is flickering and only allowed me to return it. The problem with that is that it is more expensive to buy these bulbs than when I got them the first time. I have photosensitivity and migraines, and the light bothered me immediately. The colors I have grown accustomed to in my room appeared starkly different. I will return these and have ordered the warm version of the same bulb. I have been using incadescent 3 way bulbs and have yet to switch to the newer energy efficient ones. Each of these has one large light in the lower end, and three ordinary sized bulbs in the top. Those three lights were replaced some months ago by 60 watt equivalent LED bulbs, replacing the old 40 watt incandescent bulbs.The large light bulb was a clear 300 watt incandescent bulb.These power wasting monsters had to go! So after some research, we chose these LED bulbs by XPrimo,. Although they are listed as 150 watt replacements, they are far brighter than the 300 watt bulbs that they replaced.
