Special Features (70 mins): - Making Of The Film - Making of Film Logo - The Billboard Replacement Event - Behind the Scene - Trailer - Deleted Scenes This film is based on the stories provide by the Hong Kong Baseball Team players, and performed by themselves. Hong Kong is a glamourous city with everything but baseball, almost. A brand new diamond and a charismatic new coach bring hope to the underrated delegation. Yet their passionate lives are no less intriguing. The coach from Taipei meets a beautiful beachfront girl. The masculine pitcher attracts more fans than he like while he desperately attempts to save a suicidal girl. The artistic rookie who is also into punk music and fashion is so attached to the pitcher that it aroused suspicion to his sexuality, from his teammates as well as himself. Review: A Scud film with a difference, though with many of his usual characteristics. - I like Scud’s films, but do realise they are not to everybody’s taste. This one is a bit different to the others of his I have seen, in that it appears at face value to be a type of documentary with the baseball players playing themselves ( or at least characters based on themselves). As such the film takes the form of a snapshot over time, starting with the arrival of a new coach who takes the team further in terms of success than they have been before, and finishing at the end of that particular journey but leaving some loose ends in terms of the plot. But the hallmarks of Scud’s films are there: attractive actors, un-abashed nudity, and quirky sub-plots. For fans of Scud, this is definitely worth watching. For those new to his films then maybe Amphetamine or Permanent Residence are better starting points ( if you can get them). I should also add that I bought a blue ray disc, shipped from Hong Kong but playable here in the UK. DVDs might be more difficult to play.
