Small but functional
I don’t normally write reviews but I stressed over this decision and was pleasantly surprised. Needed it to fit in a 31” space and hold up to 250 lbs while looking nice/ not chintzy. The material is sturdy. The finish is very nice. It was easy to put together alone and arrived really well packaged. I especially appreciated the styrofoam dividers that were wrapped in plastic. So the styro didn’t break apart all over my living room and I was able to use it underneath the parts while assembling to assist me keeping things even and not scratch the finish or my floors. Finished product obviously holds quite a few pairs of adult shoes comfortably (women’s converse sneakers mostly, that helps). The shoe tiers are a bit low but a pair of ankle boots made it once I got them under the seat. And it’s a little less wide than I’d like but that left just enough room for the golf umbrella and my rain boots on the side, so that works. Perhaps the picture will help you estimate the dimensions of the bench in situ After ordering I was concerned about the width of the seat but that is adequate for purpose. Another reviewer mentioned wood glue to really stabilize it. I will be doing that once I get some. The bench is adequate with just the hardware but why not make double-sure? Overall if you need a shoe bench for a small area, and don’t want a wire or modernist style, this works quite well

Easy Assembly/Stable Construction
Putting together this bench was easy because I am a picture person and the instructions were all pictures :) (BTW: I am a 70 y/o female and I like for people to know who is writing the review.) Everything fit together as it was supposed to except for the pre-drilled screw holes which were too small (like others have said). The only other thing that was a bit annoying were the stickers that cover the screws; they were darker than the actual wood and, therefore, noticeable. The bench is very stable when made correctly but I wouldn't trust it with too much weight as it is only intended for shoes. I am using it as a side table under a window and it is great for holding my books I am currently reading. Buying another for the bedroom. UPDATE: Bought the 2nd one and it went together exactly like the first except that this time, we made the pre-drilled holes a little bigger first and so there were NO issues at all. Really nice piece.

Pros and Cons
First impression is that it was packed very well. Even the Styrofoam padding had wrapping around it so the little Styrofoam balls don't get all over everything in the box. I took everything out and a leg was missing, but then I realized it was in the box with the hardware. Odd choice, but okay. I started assembly, and like others have mentioned, the holes for the dowels were a bit too small. Not all of them, but about half of them. I'm not sure how that happens because you'd think the same machine or the same drill bit would be used for all of the dowel holes. Anyway, it wasn't a huge problem. With a hammer and a tiny bit of force the dowels went down into the holes. No drill was necessary. There are a lot of long screws you have to screw into the legs and that's really difficult with just a regular Phillips screwdriver. I highly recommend an impact driver or at the very least a ratchet type screwdriver. The final drawing on the instructions where you put the hex screws in was a bit confusing, but overall assembly was relatively quick and easy to figure out. The shoe rack is sturdy and looks nice. I kind of wish it was higher off the ground though so a pair of shoes could go on the floor underneath. As it is, nothing can fit under there except maybe flip flops. Overall a nice shoe rack and it fits perfectly in the space that I have by the door.

Definitely not a shoe rack
I bought this as a shoe rack in my entryway to store one pair of shoe from each family member but this did not look like it could handle soiled shoes. I bought a different wire one later but this was perfect for a side table for our sofa in a smaller living space. This table did not look bulky but was useful to store small stuff to make the space look more clean.

Looks nice but incredibly flimsy
1 star off for the last step of the the assembly being ridiculous due to how close the screw holes are to the edge of the wood, leading to an incredibly difficult and painful process. 1 star off for how scary it feels/sounds when you sit on it. This piece looks pretty good for the price, but I think it's barely functional. If I'm being honest, I feel like it'll collapse every time I sit on it, and I'm 170lbs. Not even close to the 250lb limit. I would recommend just going to homegoods or fb marketplace and seeing if you can find a similar one. I don't feel super comfortable using this long term for my/guest's safety. It has made some scary sounds when I sit on it.

Think twice about buying
This item needs to be rethought. Screws are hard to screw in and space is very limited when connecting the legs to the top. Solid once put together. Very poor design, needs rethinking. Would be a nice shelf if it was easier to put together. Broke screw and stripped heads too tight a fit.

Very sturdy and worth the money.
It fit perfectly in the garage by the house entry door. We store the outside shoes (5 pairs) and sit on it when changing shoes. Very sturdy as I am 71M and weigh 235. A little tricky putting it together but figured it out.

I was a bit apprehensive having read about building this shoe bench, but it was fine. I took on board the comments others had made about the screws being tough and the restricted space to manoeuvre, so I used a ratchet screwdriver with a long length screw bit. I have arthritis in my fingers and managed to build it ok. It's sturdy and looks more expensive then it is and certainly better quality than most of these flat packs. But the space between the shelves is quite narrow. However what I needed was a small bench for the porch and this is ideal Very pleased.
