Good EDC Knife
Out of the box I immediately liked this knife. It was slightly larger than I expected but I wanted a large every day carry blade so that's a plus. I've ordered knives in the past and were disappointed with their being smaller than expected. It's sharp, feels good in the hand and opens easily enough. The handles are nylon but steel lined. It has some heft but isn't too heavy. Build quality is excellent. Time will tell about the D2 steel but right know it will shave hair. The pocket clip seems sturdy enough, again time will tell. I like my knives and am usually willing to pay for a good blade. But I also use them and have lost more than I have broken. For the price, this is an excellent bargain.

Durable EDC. Sharp out of the box
I have 2 Ontario Rats one in D2 and one Aus8. Plus two aus8 that I have purchased for a couple grand children. This is a replacement for the Rat 1 D2 that I just returned due to being extremely hard to open with one hand. The replacement is great! It opens easy with one hand, as it should, and arrived very sharp. I do expect it to be durable. Lock mechanize is set great and is not stiff to unlock. Blade sets straight in the handle and has even spacing on the side and even sharpening . I assume this knife will be as good or better than the aus 8 I lost. Hopefully with less sharpening than the Aus8 steel. Now the Rat 1 is a pretty good sized pocket knife. Larger than most but the slim profile isn’t very noticeable. The clip can be repositioned or removed. I have a number of folders including, Kershaws, Buck, Gerber, SOG, and older Old Timers. But the Rat 1 is my go to knife. Granted it all depends upon personal preference and what a person intends to do with a cutting instrument but it is hard to beat the Rat 1 for all around use. For $50 it is not a bad buy.

Just read this
This is only the first or second review I’ve written for a product. I’ll tell you off the bat I’m the kind of guy when I look to purchase a new item first thing I do is google “ best ________ for ( and whatever year it currently is). Just how I am don’t want to waste time or money . I would normally not even consider a knife I. This price range for my SHTF bag but the reviews were there I was looking for a new knife and a $40-$50 it wasn’t really much to risk to try it out. I understand how online retail works . Some items are over hyped and some are just terrible. But it takes a lot for me to write a review . I love knives I have multiple. Ka-bar , Benchmade, Spyderco ,etc , and never I mean never had a knife come straight out of the box and take the hair off my arm. Well this one did. I’ve spent literally quadruple the money on a knife and not been this impressed. Granted knife doesn’t look the best, I’ll give you that but as for form and function this one is apex. And I mean cmon D2 steel? Isn’t that the metal they use to cut steel with in the first place? I whittled 4 spears of wood to show kids how to slock and this knife still took hairs off my arm. Unreal. Serious man if you hear something bad about this knife it’s some ninney who thinks the $250.00 price tag on the first knife of mine that even is comparable to this one somehow would make it superior. You know the really rich guys that jump into a hobby and buy the top of the line gear and think that automatically makes them good? I.e just gets into saltwater fishing and buys a penn international . Or the guy who just gets into bow hunting and buys the $1900.00 Mathews . Cmon we all know the guy. I’ll take a $150.00 recurve and take him to school. I’m telling you this knife will hold its own ( and most likely outperform) any knife in the right craftsman’s hands. The fact it’s in the $40-$50 price range just takes it away.

Well worth the price.
We are in the process of moving and I needed a solid knife I could count on to get me through all the tape and cardboard we are dealing with and it's far exceeding my expectations. Just a couple of notes. First, it's a large pocket knife. I'm 6'2 @ 215 and it pretty much fills my hands. In fact I bought two at a time with the idea to give one to my son-in-law but sent it back because it would be too big for him. Next, out of the box it's sharp. Real sharp. Sharper than any Kershaw or Boker knives I've gotten in the past. Next, I'm loving the locking mechanism. as you can see in the pictures, it sit's fully behind the blade, not just a corner of it. (again, like others I have) and out of the box it was true/straight so no adjustments were needed. Keep in mind that this is a basic knife, it's not an assisted or spring opening one, but that's not what I was looking for. I just wanted a solid knife that will last for a long time an I definitely got what I was looking for.

perfect beater EDC
I've owned a few of these and have carried one on me every day for many years. It’s a great knife, won't break the bank, holds an edge well, and most importantly, it’s inexpensive enough that I don’t feel guilty about putting it through some abuse (like prying something up or cutting up a bunch of cardboard). I work around saltwater daily and the D2 steel will speckle with superficial rust a bit if you're not careful, but nothing like 1095. I get around this by coating it with a little oil now and then. If you're looking for a pretty knife to sit on a shelf, look for something more expensive, but if you need something you can actually use as a tool on the daily, look no further. I have larger hands and the Rat 1 is perfect ergonomically. If you have medium sized hands or less, definitely go with the Rat 2. This thing is a little over-sized for most people IMO.

Large knife,hefty
Very high quality (for this price point, as the knife snobs would say) size makes you realize why they made the smaller model 2

Es una herramienta de corte bastante robusta y contundente ideal para trabajos rudos. Es una navaja ideal para complementar tu EDC. A un no la he puesto a prueba en campo pero se que tiene muy bien filó de fabrica.
