How long is the aux 3.5 cable?

Cord is 55 inches long. I don't recommend this product though. Unfortunately the sound quality is terrible. I have to hold it right up to my face bc my coworkers say they can't hear me.

how far away can this capture audio from?

I am the not manufacturer, you will have to contact the seller and ask for the manufacturers website for technical specificities. My own opinion on the matter is that microphones can record at varying distances depending on how much distortion you are willing to put up with, as you can put the GAIN on very high and hear sounds from miles away but sounds up close will be so loud it will cause clipping in your recording software unless you have double sampling and compression plugins which mitigate such problems.

NO, this device was of terrible quality. No one on the other end could hear me.

If I input this into the rear 3.5mm aux input on my stereo receiver will I be able to use as a microphone

That is depending on the software controlling your 3.5mm aux jack, if it has a clear way to select it as a microphone input then that is all that is needed, if not then it won't work, as it won't auto sense a microphone, it will rely on you telling it there is a microphone on that port, which means adjusting the settings.
