Amazing, easy, replaces my PodX3
My PodX3 Live died, RIP. Was looking at video reviews on Youtube of this vs several others. When the BlackFriday dropped to $275 I could not resist. Had seen a few demo videos and breezed over the manual the day before. I had it up in 10 minutes and the interface is so easy and intuitive I was running guitar and fretless bass rigs in literally 20 minutes later. The Sound: the sound is completely indifferentiable from the real thing. There are 70 amps and 70 speaker cabinets. There are hundreds of stomp boxes, eq, delays, mods. The sound is better than my PodX3 was. The people who reviewed this in the Youtube videos consistently chose it over the other Mods out there, and I agree completely having heard it myself in my own studio headphones. The price is 1/5 of that of the comparable unit that holds 70 amp models and 70 speaker cabinets. In fact, no other unit has 70- speaker cabinets. Even the Helix has only 45. Another feature is that the factory settings are all usable. For some bizarre reason every other emulator I've tested has all of these factory models that are completely absurd and useless; e.g., whacky effects and unusable noises. All of the factory presets can be immediately useable even on stage. It is built tough. It weighs a good 7-pounds, all metal, all heavy gauged metal, even the knobs are metal, there are no plastic parts whatsoever. they built this thing to take punishment, like being carried around to gigs as was intended. The display is Gorilla Glass, not plastic, but ballistic glass. The input output jacks are solid steel all around. Best part is on my Amazon card 0% is 23/month. How could I resist replacing my old dead unit for just 23/month. It has been a week now and there are a few things to know about this unit. You have to pay attention to the fine details of each layer of each setting in order to get the exact sound you want. For example, I have a fretless bass and several guitars, all of which require an entirely different tonal quality for a full bodied sound. On my former PodX3 [now extinct legacy product] it was a very laborious process of finding endless submenues, all of which existed but were difficult to find and keep track of. The GP200 is basically a 3-layered device, meaning, you will never have to dive deeper than 2-layers beyond the welcome screen to fine tune every amp, cabinet, pedal, mod, etc. There is a global set of settings which you need to adjust parametrically based on rather you are in headphones or a real speaker system. However, getting to that menu is one button. And you really need stereo to develop the speaker cabinet emulation properly. running mono doesn't quite cut it. Also you need to know that the system comes with the speaker emulation as OFF as a domestic global setting. you need to go into the cabinet menu and select ON. That is also true in the global settings. Sounds complicated, but again, everything is only 2-layers below the welcome screen. every fine tuning parameter has a hard button for immediate access, such as the amp, cabinets, pedals, and so on, are all hard switches rather than a layer of submenues. I find the ease of this compared to older technology like the difference between DOS and Windows, for those of you who no someone old enough to know what DOS was. If you fine tune everything, the sound is also superior to technology just about five years ago. Thus far I have not found anything I do not love about this unit. At first I thought I had a crackling problem in the audio, but that was just a global setting in the inputs and outputs high frequency cutoff range and limit. took me five minutes to find and correct.

Amazing multi effect!
I saw this effect board on a YouTube video. It's the brit guys that review pedals, I forget their names. But I was amazed at what I heard in the video so I decided to grab one for myself. And holy crap am I happy I did! It sounds amazing right out of the box. I plugged it into my mixer and played it through my studio speakers. And it sounds like I'm playing it through an amp! I can't wait to plug it into an actual amp. But the amp and cab simulation are accurate and it not only sounds like the amp you are playing it feels like you are playing through that amp. And that is the most difficult thing to get out of an effect pedal! It just feels like it is going through some hot tubes! I have so far used it mostly for the clean tones, and I have actually found myself turning the gain up to the point of breaking up mostly because it just feels right! I'd never do that in the past with an amp/cab sim! It would just sound like garbage distortion. Not this guy! And the effects are dead on. The tube screamer sounds like the original. And I mean the vintage one that has all the goodies in it! The fuzz sounds super fat like the real deal! All of the mod effects are as good as my single pedals bit it has so many more options than I could afford to buy. And the delays and reverbs are spot on too! And with the effect loop built in, which you can place anywhere in the chain, you can keep using those great sounding pedals you own. I added a Nektar exp pedal which just opens up the possibilities like adjusting delay time or delay feedback. You can also do it with the built in exp pedal but I am keeping that one for the wah, which by the way, also sounds perfect! I've never owned a Vox wah but I love the tone. And you can adjust the parameters which is kind of like modding a pedal you own. No soldering required. I can't wait to use it in a live setting. I might actually just try to go right into the sound system and skip the Amp gear humping all together. We will see. But from what I have heard so far it might be a possibility. I'll definitely not be using an Amp in the studio. Why would I? I have $50k of amps right there in the pedal! The AC30 sounds like an AC30. The tweed sounds like a tweed. And who can afford to buy several Mesas including the Mark 4? The Mesa Boogie sims sound awesome! And the tweed breaks up right in that sweet spot just like a vintage Fender amp. Pedal boards have come a long way! And this one is so affordable it would be crazy to not get one! I normally wouldn't rave about something like this, but I have never bought a piece of affordable gear before that performs better than some expensive gear out there. These guys nailed it in this one!

Digital (Hybrid Setup)
I’ve used analog amp heads from various brands over the years. However, I’ve recently switched things over to this (Valeton GP-200) for various reasons. There’s a learning curve but it’s not that difficult like some other units. Just watch some YouTube, read the manual and just play around with it. I’m still learning about what this processor can do but it’s fun with all of the various amps, effects etc. Just keep in mind that the sound you’re hearing from those vids can vary depending on how it’s recorded. You can also run other pedals/wahs, etc via external connection if you choose to opt for that type of set up. A lot of the vids seem to use it like a pedal board but I don’t like that set up. I use it in Stompbox mode. I like having a dedicated clean, dirty and whatever other channel I want so I can switch back and forth between all of them quickly. The amp modelers sound really good compared to other modelers in my opinion. They sound like an actual analog amp head or very, very close to it. It doesn’t have that “digital sound”. The effects sound good too in my opinion. Theres many amps, distortions, effects, etc to choose from. They have presets already programmed in to get you started but you can tweak all of them to fine tune what’s already there or create your own. Download the software, which is free, from their website. This makes it easy to adjust everything on this unit. You can also adjust it via the actual unit. When you make adjustments on either of them, it takes effect immediately without any discrepancies. Update the firmware too, they provide both which gives updates to new features. I power it with an (Orange Pedal Baby 100). I wanted the feel of a traditional amp through a speaker cabinet which makes the unit feel like an analog amp head instead of into a digital interface. It’s small, lightweight, metal chassis, good color display and extremely portable. My signal chain is simple, the guitar into effects unit, out into the power amp (Orange Pedal Baby 100) then into the speaker cabinet (Randall 4x12). This is a simple setup and works great. The bass and treble knobs on the Orange power amp work like a resonance and presence control to help dial in whatever tone you’ve set up on the effects unit. Very simple and effective setup. Also, aside from bedroom/jam room playing, you don’t need to mic the speaker cab. You can split the signal to your speaker cab for on-stage volume and FoH simultaneously. If you prefer to have no on-stage volume then go direct only. It all depends on how you want to use it. So, it has many uses for various applications. It has a lot of features like some of the other brands but it doesn’t break the bank so to say.

Valeton is a great company to work with!!
Valeton does not have a US distributor so Amazon is the only way to find their products that are shipped by Amazon from the Amazon warehouse. If you have been an Amazon customer for a while you know how mistakes can happen in their huge warehouse system coast to coast. Amazon shipped me a used unit that was an absolute mess. It was dirty and obviously a used piece of merchandise never meant to go back out of the warehouse. I contacted Valeton and they overnighted me a new GP-200. It was on my doorstep within 42 hours of them reaching back out to me. No questions asked just verify your shipping address. That kind of consumer support is not very prevalent in the Amazon world of music gear. It's why I try and stay clear of Amazon for gear purchases but in this case it was the only way to get a GP-200 in the US. Valeton was just the best to work with! Now, the GP-200 itself I am super happy with it. I am using it for direct recording / re-amping and it does a 5 star job. The brand name amp emulations are all 5 star and the cabinet IR are surprisingly solid. I have A/B them with the Two Notes IRs which I own a ton of and in some cases they GP-200 cabinet IRs are superior sounding. The Vintage 30 IR is as solid as they come, it sounds fantastic. The bundled software Valeton has is a game changer. I can leave the unit on the floor and have complete control over the GP-200 from the desktop software, no bending over! and no loss of the footswitches or expression pedal having the unit on your desktop. The software is very well done with the exception of one thing. You can't drag it to multiple monitors in a session. My guess is that will be fixed in an upcoming software release. Trying to get a nice sparkly Fender Deluxe or Princeton tone out of anything other than an amp has been an impossible task for me. The GP-200 nails it! Finally after all the years of plugins that always overdrive no mater how clean you try and set them up you can get that true Fender Reverb sparkle without a microphone. Oh hell yeah! The GP-200 is worth every cent and I haven't even got it out to the gig yet. This is my best gear purchase in 2022! Valeton, please get a US distributor I think you will do well in the US.

Comparison to Boss ME-90
I had a really hard time deciding between this and the Boss ME-90, but I’m happy with my choice. Here’s some things I prefer about the Valeton GP-200. It has a screen. I thought this might be a negative (menu diving) until I realized that with the boss you have to remember what your patches are by number unless you refer to the app. The screen also makes the tuner more functional, providing a better visual of how close you are to being in tune. You can’t set it to non-standard tunings, but it will detect if you are trying to tune a string to C, for example. The screen also makes it easier to use the looper, and the looper has a longer record time. The Valeton is better for amp modeling, having more presets and IR slots. The effects chain can be re-ordered via the app, which has a nice visual interface, and is easy to use. There are presets for Bass guitar (Boss sells an entirely separate unit for Bass). It has a built-in drum machine with lots of options, which is great for practicing. Finally, it has a smaller footprint than the ME-90. Oh, and it comes with a power block. Here are some reasons you might prefer the Boss. It’s a trusted brand that’s known for quality, so it might be more durable. (I actually have a 20 year old ME-30 that still works perfectly, but its unlit screen is really hard to read.) However, I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality of the Valeton. I thought it might be plastic, but it has a metal body and expression pedal. Of course, the main reason to get the ME-90 is the simplicity of using knobs. It might be a better choice if you plan on playing through a real amp and using it in stomp-box mode. I prefer the Boss-style flatter footswitches, especially for barefoot home use. I might try getting some caps for the Valeton. People also say the Boss has a faster response time, which could be important if you are a more serious musician than I am. Neither unit comes with bluetooth, but you can buy an adapter for the Boss. Also, a note about using either of these. There are so many ways to connect them, whether you want to play through an amp, speakers, PA, headphones, or a computer. I’ve actually enjoyed playing through the headphone out to be able to take advantage of the amp modeling capabilities. I’ve used it through my computer speakers to enjoy stereo effects, and I’ve played it through the aux-in of my bass amp, even with guitar (my guitar amp doesn’t have an aux port). Don’t overlook that option.

Works Great with Amp and DAW.
Great for this beginner as a practice tool and much less expensive than individual pedals. I use the 4 cable method to connect to my amp (with an FX Loop). Setup was easy - download manual, software and ASIO driver. I have no interest in the cab modeling/IR stuff at this point and want to use the power amp and speaker in my amp. The available amps are the pre-amp section, so turning off the GP200 FX Loop and using the Parallel mode sounds wonderful (using my 2 EL84's and speaker). I originally purchased this to have a looper and drum machine. Please note that the loop time is reduced if you set it to Post and want to use the Undo/Redo feature. This leads to my favorite surprise, I can play back from my DAW (Reaper) without unwanted noise (my amp’s usb connection is unusable for playback). Not I can record/loop all I want, but more importantly I can play backing tracks from my DAW through my amp speaker. I use a simple pad vst and drum vst for practicing. The tuner is another key feature for me (one of the pedals I was looking to purchase). I like to see if I’m hitting the note with bends, or just having a visual, to help learn the fretboard. I have a TC Polytune and KLIQ clip on tuners and the accuracy appears to be equal. I got this on prime day for $280 US and consider it a good deal. The box was opened but everything appears fine and I’m still within the 30 day return (unless it breaks it’s a keeper). I’m pleasantly surprised at how good it sounds with my amp.

It's awesome
If you are making a decision to buy this over other multi effects, stop and buy it. The sound is excellent, the effects, cabins, heads... everything sounds amazing and it's very easy to setup, for the price you are paying, it's overkill, it has plenty of IO, it's super customizable, and with the latest update, they added overdrive effects on the pre, so now you can chain OD and DS, which is amazing. Cons? sure, there are some, the time it takes to change between presets is quite annoying, but almost every other multi effects has it so, I don't know if I would consider that a con, the wah effects are hard to set up, but they end up sounding good if you spend a decent amount of time setting them up, this one is just me being picky, but it would be super nice to be able to turn off the OD/DS on the high gain heads, It would give it so much more dept to customization... The software to customize it is super intuitive and super easy to learn, it's super easy to set the pedal to your liking. It's been a while since it was released, and they are still adding updates, new effects, presets, and stuff to make it more awesome. I just love it, I play with it at home, live, in rehearsals, and I've never had a single issue with it, it's a lot of fun. To end this review, there's a lot of resources on YouTube to learn how to set it up properly, with little tweaks you can make to make it sound great on most use cases, that's a super plus. anyway, I just like it a lot, hope you do as well if you buy it :P!

Amazing product.
This is a fantastic guitar pedal. The sounds it produces are amazing and you can download any patch into it to sound like any band. My recommendation is if youre plugging it into a bluetooth speaker, to use an XLR from the pedal into quarter inch plug that goes in the speaker.

Excellent!
This guitar processor offers excellent value for the money. Out of the box, it sounds great, covering a broad range of tones that will satisfy most players. It’s an ideal choice for beginners and mid-level players on a budget. For clean tones and edge-of-breakup sounds, this unit excels. The tones are clear, dynamic, and very usable for a variety of styles. However, when it comes to high-gain tones, it does fall short, especially at high volumes. I had to return mine because I needed a backup for my Fractal AX8, and while the unit performs well in many areas, the high-gain sounds were fizzy, and despite my best efforts, I couldn't dial it out, even using the global EQ. But to be fair, this is to be expected considering the price difference between this and more expensive units like the Fractal gear. The effects are good, though not quite studio-quality. Still, they are certainly usable and will satisfy most players who aren’t looking for perfection. Another highlight is the free editor software, which is intuitive, easy to use, and allows for extensive customization of your sounds. The build quality is also solid, with all of the controls feeling sturdy and user-friendly. In conclusion, while this unit may not be suitable for those seeking top-tier high-gain tones, it’s a great choice for aspiring guitar players who need a versatile processor on a budget. I would highly recommend it to anyone starting out or looking for a budget-friendly option without compromising on core features.
