Review: Looks great but that's bout it. - I've bought quite a few Knipex tools in the past, and was always happy with the build quality. This time, not so much. I have to admit, the cutter looked like a quality tool. However, when i put it to the test the cutting edge simply did not hold up. Small steel spring caused the cutting edge to roll significantly, rendering the cutter useless. I will be returning this sample.

Este alicate Super-Knips (modelo 78 13 125) é bem curioso porque ele possui um recurso chamado "lead catcher" que seria uma pequena lingueta de metal que "segura" o pedaço de fio que foi cortado, impedindo assim que o mesmo saia voando pela bancada ou caia dentro de algum local de difícil acesso. Vale a pena alertar que apesar desse alicate ser feito de aço inox (o que torna o mesmo mais resistente a corrosão) ele não é um metal tão duro e resistente como outras ligas de aço usadas em outras ferramentas da casa. Por exemplo, segundo o site da Knipex a dureza desse Super-Knips modelo 78 13 125 de inox é de 54 HRC e corta — no máximo — arames de cobre de até 1,6mm (de diâmetro) ou de Ferro de até 1,0mm. Já o Super-Knips modelo 78 71 125 feito de aço especial para ferramentas (cujo tom é escuro) sua dureza salta para para 62 HRC e corta arames de cobre de até 1,6mm ou de Ferro de até 1,2mm. E acima deles ainda tem o Super-Knips XL 78 61 140 com dureza de 64 HRC e que corta arames de cobre de até 2,1mm e de ferro de até 1,4mm. Com isso quero dizer que — em tese — o 78 13 125 é uma ferramenta para tarefas mais delicadas, como fazer cortes rentes e precisos em materiais mais leves e "macios" e não para fatiar cabeça de prego de aço. Isso talvez explique as fotos de alguns clientes desapontados onde o fio de corte desse está todo mastigado ou até mesmo com a boca quebrada — ou seja — não é que ele seja ruim e sim que ele pode ter sido usado de maneira muito errada.

I've bought quite a few Knipex tools in the past, and was always happy with the build quality. This time, not so much. I have to admit, the cutter looked like a quality tool. These are nice and sharp, I am wiring up a project vehicle and mostly use them for zip ties, but also for smaller wires. Nice clean cuts and the tab to hold the cut portion works pretty good too.
