I would suggest having the battery disconnected before attempting installation. Complete removal of the gas tank was not necessary for my vehicle since there was enough room to lower the tank with a floor jack and remove and install the fuel pump, but it might be easier and necessary for other vehicles. Make sure to have tool to release fuel lines.
