Not Disappointed
Great fit, quality I have come to expect from Mechanix Wear, this is my second pair in as many years, depending on the type of work they wear like iron. Not suggested for welding, they are a comfortable replacement for the standard leather gloves

Great Pair of Inexpensive Work Gloves
This is my 4th pair of Mechanix Wear Fast Fit Leather gloves and I keep coming back to them for a reason. I use them primarily for yard work and moving materials around, and I put them through real abuse such as oil stains, wet grass, damp equipment, and regular contact with metal and wood. A pair lasts me about two years under those conditions, which I think is pretty reasonable given how hard I am on them. Normally that would give me pause and lower my rating, but combined with the reasonable price, I'm fine replacing them every so often. Here's the reason I keep coming back. I once had my finger pulled into a belt system on a piece of yard equipment while wearing these gloves. I broke the bone in that finger, but the leather construction absorbed enough of the impact that I kept the finger and miraculously did not have any actual abrasions/cuts to the skin. The damage was all internal (the bone break). Without them I would have almost certainly lost my finger entirely. That's not something I take lightly, and it's the main reason I won't wear anything else. Beyond that, they fit well, hold up to the day-to-day punishment of outdoor and manual work, and the fast fit design makes them easy to get on and off. If you're doing any kind of serious yard work or handling rough materials regularly, I'd strongly recommend these gloves.

Finger savers
I am convinced that these gloves saved me from taking a 1/4" groove out of my index and thumb on my left hand while using a masonry disk on a grinder today. They took a graze from the disk at full tilt when it kicked and ran at my left hand, barely a scuff on the gloves and some sore but intact fingertips. I don't know if any other gloves would have kept me from having my whole day ruined, but these definitely did and I am glad to have had them protecting my fingers at work. They do suffer from the typical durability issues for gloves of this type of construction; where the seams of the leather fingers meeting the fabric backing give out before the leather. I really wish Mechanix would make the fingers entirely out of Durahide, or even the 4x material, instead of a fabric backing so the gloves would last more than a few weeks of work. Even just bringing it 80% of the way around would drastically improve the durability. Even with the expected durability issues while working with masonry, I will continue to buy Durahide or 4x Mechanix gloves because of how much abuse they can handle. They blow other options out of the water, so I always have a fresh pair waiting so I don't have to go a day of hard work without them.

Really like these for what they are.
I've been buying the Impact version of this glove for years now at almost triple the price and I destroy them when I could be using these for those jobs. I love the impacts but for the price I might as well be wearing actual gloves that last 4 years and not 6 months. I now tote 3 gloves: Wells Lamont for heavy work, Mechanix Wear Leather Impact, and these. These are burnable at the price yet durable at any price I can find. Daily wear and tear on one set of gloves while being versatile is impossible. I could TIG in these but not MIG. I can put these on to sweat piping, but not the Wells Lamont and feel comfortable making dime-beads. These are great daily gloves with great wearing leather that are just not expensive. I will wear them out but it's not going to be triple the cost to replace them. I'll get a thumb hole or I'll screw up and rip or burn through the back side but it's not a big issue. These are consumables and expected for this level of dexterity. Cons: Something about the leather I don't understand. I can climb rungs with bare hands or the Well's Lamont and not feel sketchy. These are slippery*. Not horrible but it's not natural grip I would expect. Heck, it could be all the crap embedded in them but doesn't happen to other "cow skin" gloves. Leather is made of cattle right? Is this mouse leather? I'd just rather climb rungs to do work without these gloves...or the Wells, which are fine. 4 stars over all for a consumable item. Two a year if you wear gloves a lot. *I tried the fake leather and it is far worse. Do not purchase the fake leather gloves at all. Slippery, can't hold anything, rips easily, and you'll be buying them monthly in a work environment. Leather is not a limited resource and there's no need for fake stuff to save the planet. IMO, it's a cheaper attempt at making gloves and nothing more.

great all-around glove just not as much protection as the original's
I wear Mechanix gloves every day at work, just the Original or Fast Fit black ones and I love them. I figured I'd get a nice leather pair for at home and this pair of gloves has surprised me so many times. I've had them for 2 years now, never beat them up that much other than occasionally moving logs around in the fire which ended up being their downfall. I should have gotten the original or the M-pact, on the Fast Fit model the leather or protection doesn't go up the inside or the outside of the fingers of the glove except for the index finger there is just the stretchy material there probably to help them flex more to get them on your hand. It just so happened that I grabbed a burning log a little too tight and a little too long and it burnt holes in the stretchy part of the fingers of the gloves. It didn't burn me though, and that isn't the first time I've had issues with the protection not covering the inside or outside of the fingers. I'm going to be purchasing the M-pact model next because of the extra palm leather, and the leather goes all the way up the inside and outside of the fingers. I could do without the knuckle protection but it's an added benefit. The Durahide leather is superbly durable the leather is still as thick as it was the day I bought them, and absolutely the most comfortable leather glove I've ever wore. The only complaint I have is really with the way the Fast Fit model is designed. They are faster to get on not necessarily easier and might be just a tad bit comfier due to the glove being tighter on your hand, but they have less protection and aren't as durable as the Original. If you get the Fast Fit model, I would tell you to get them a size down from what you would get in the Original. The Original doesn't have the flex that the Fast Fit does so you can downsize the Fast Fit. The Original are easier to get on, but the Fast Fits offer a much better fit "Like a glove" so to speak. I would recommend any Mechanix product because I've used them extensively and they have absolutely saved my hands on more than one occasion!

Best Work Gloves I've Ever Used
I'm very hard on work gloves, because I use them every day for all kinds of chores on a farmette, from moving concrete blocks to spending hours shoveling gravel, to working electric fencelines to mucking stalls, etc. Sometimes, they get soaking wet when working in the rain or covered in engine oil or bar/chain oil. I clean them and dry them the best I can and they're ready for more punishment. Tried many gloves over the years, basically every brand in every store locally. Two months is all I ever got from those gloves, and some of them were so bulky I had to take them off to accomplish certain tool manipulations. Kinda defeats the purpose of having work gloves. These Mechanix gloves fit perfectly and last more than a year. I always hate to get rid of them when they finally wear through (usually from puncturing them on sharp objects multiple times), because over time they mold to my hands and fit even better than new. The pair I'm wearing now is actually MORE than a year old, and they fit so well I hardly know I'm wearing them. Also, the gathering at the wrist is perfect -- enough to keep the gloves from coming off at the wrong time, but nowhere near enough to be uncomfortable. As I said, best work gloves I've ever used.

Tougher than math homework.
I’ve always liked Mechanix gloves but the cloth material always seems to wear out way too fast. I basically use these for working around the house, yard and cars. I wanted to try the leather option but was concerned with durability and circulation to avoid sweat. Well I am more than thrilled with them. No sweat, tough as Algebra 2 homework and they have now lasted through a complete chord of wood, another 2 face chords, an alternator repair on my F250 diesel, and cutting/hauling buckthorn. BTW not one thorn through the leather palms. What a pleasure. The gloves on the left are the work horses. Washed 2x’s, hung to dry and good as ever. They are going in the wash after this review. Immediately got a second pair in case they stop making them....might get a third. Can’t go wrong. They rock.

Stitching almost immediately fell apart
Stitching immediately fell apart the moment it needed to protect me. Is it just me, or did Mechanix gloves used to be WAY more durable?
