Is this good guitar for a begginer?

These are really excellent guitars! I originally ordered the FS800 for a gift, but it turned out to be a bit small and exchanged it for the 840. Really nice sound and came setup ready to go!

What type of music is FG 840 best for?

Folk music, bluegrass, contemporary, country music, etc. I play a bunch if different music styles, as I play some classic rock. The guitar is great for strumming, flat picking and finger picking. It's a very versatile guitar and I absolutely love it. It's bright sounding, but since I've had it for almost 2 years the guitar has opened up more and sounds warmer. Great guitar

what is the difference between the fg830 and the fg 840?

Hello, thanks for writing in! The FG830 features laminated rosewood back and sides and a spruce top. The FG840 features that same spruce top, but laminated flamed maple back and sides.
