I was afraid that the device would be too rough for my skin. Brushing my finger lightly over the grate made me wonder if this device might be too abrasive for my feet. I was afraid to use it at first thinking it was like a cheese grater and might break my skin if I used it too roughly. A reviewer did mention that if you push too hard on your skin it could be detrimental. But I was able to use it without causing issues. I tried it lightly on skin but it didn't work very well. As soon as I used some pressure scraping the dry areas of my big toe and bottom of my feet all the thick dry parts of my feet were gone! I was amazed. I used it like I'm using a nail file, but for the thick dry parts of my feet. I'm able to shave all the thick dry parts off and leave a nice smooth area that no longer looks embarrassing. Using some lotion to help with dryness wasn't helping before, but now that I am able to shave off the dry skin bumps that lotion is a lot easier to heal my feet. I love this device. Wish I found it sooner

This is a combination foot file on one side, and cheese-grater style on the other side; it's nice to have both options, but wish they had sold these separately. The handle is EXCELLENT, and wish more foot files made this type of handle. The other Rikans foot care filing/rasper products do not have this nice of a handle, so I wish they would consider using this same handle on their other products.

This file will get rid of the thickest calluses on your feet. But be careful because it is very sharp. You have to take care not to go too deep, because you can cut yourself.

Works very well. Should have a warning to not take to much calous off, leaving your feet as smooth as a babies bumb . Can then have tender feet! I learned the hard way but will be a repeat buyer for sure!!!

Works really well and opens so it’s easy to clean. I used to be a razor blade user and I’m converted. This is much safer and works jist as well.

I really like the shape and weight of it but I don't find it overly sharp like other reviews seem to indicate. I don't find it takes very much of my dead skin off despite my scrubbing (wet or dry).
