Elite Gourmet EC812 Electric 12-Cup Coffee Percolator

I really like this Elite Gourmet coffee percolator. It makes a great-tasting, hot cup of coffee and has that classic percolator flavor that you just don’t get from many standard drip coffee makers. The stainless steel design looks nice and feels durable. It’s simple to use, heats up quickly, and the indicator light makes it easy to know when the coffee is ready. The large 12-cup capacity is perfect when making coffee for family, guests, or when you just want to keep a pot ready. Cleanup is easy, and the removable parts make maintenance simple. If you enjoy strong, flavorful coffee and prefer a traditional percolator, this is a great choice for the price.

This coffee maker works good when it's working properly. I bought it mainly for the keep warm feature. That stopped working after about 8 months, well stopped working consistently. The machine is still under warranty but you can't get it replaced under warranty unless you send them a picture of the cord cut from the base. I understand them not wanting to send a replacement machine if I can still use this one but if I have to buy a new coffee maker to use while waiting for the replacement to arrive, what's the point? Because my house is a coffee every morning house. If that was the only issue, I'd still give it a few more stars but it's not the only issue. It started leaking almost from day one. Can't even tell for sure where the coffee comes from but it seems to be from little holes around the lid. Then sometimes it'll brew extremely weak coffee, like if you were making coffee flavored tea. The knob on the top broke after about 6 months, that was easier to replace under warranty. It's rare that I'd choose to give a product zero stars if that was possible but with this, I would. I wish I had paid closer attention to the 1-star ratings before ordering. Hopefully more people will see the 1-star reviews and choose a better product. This one is good for adding more waste to your local landfill.

This is the best percolator since my 2008 & 2010 Cuisinart ones that I loved so much & used extra for tea as I was doing catering & cooking classes at the time. But I burned through those & was just making it on stove- but then needed 1 fast because I could no longer do that due to a stroke & nerve damage. I looked at the CRAZY prices of all of the percolators out there & then found this. It was an unused open box special & so I tried it because of the low price & it being ALL stainless steel. It brews an amazing cup of coffee & it is still great cold or reheated! It takes about 10-12min to fully brew and the base stays hot for 2.5hrs afterwards. The blue light shows when ready & it has a red light to show brewing. The inside of percolator is marked from 4 cups to 12 cups on the inside by the handle & so is the basket to ensure the right base amount standard pre-ground coffee from store. Im super stingy with my 5 stars & this definitely makes the cut!! I found if I wait about 3min after the blue light comes on then the whole pot is a little stronger. But if I pour right away I get an okay cup and the rest is much stronger. Also if you grind the coffee beans at time of brewing then you can reduce the amount of grounds by a few teaspoons too! The different strengths of beans and various roasts can be adjusted too. But I do recommend each time a new bean style/flavor is bought to stick with their basic markings before adjusting to taste! 👍I also purchased the filters for it and they were $6 for 350. Those keep the holes from becoming clogged & having to spend time cleaning out the basket. Those actually save how much grounds I need to put in because you get a better brew. The filters are also nontoxic & non bleached plus fully compostable! Highly recommended for those who have disabilities or are on the go a lot! The filters is pre cut & half the thickness of a coffee filter- they work best if you rinse the basket out well & then place directly into the wet basket! Let the filter absorb the water in the basket for about 3seconds & then add your coffee or tea leaves; then drop the basket into pot with pole inside.

This is so easy to use and clean. Makes great coffee even for different cup amounts it is consistent, 6-12 same great taste!

While the warming feature of the Elite Gourmet percolator is great for those who have a tendency to forget to unplug appliances, for me, the fact that it shuts off after only 2 hours when I would like it to remain on until I switch it off is somewhat inconvenient. This percolator does a great job brewing coffee in about 8 minutes. To start the process, press the button on the pot and it will illuminate RED. Once brewing is complete, the light will switch to BLUE, which means the percolator is now in mode to maintain the coffee at the proper serving temperature. Coffee will be piping hot with full-bodied flavor. After brewing, remove the basket and stem. This is important because if you want to leave the percolator on for a few hours so you can keep going back for refills, understand that it will automatically shut off after 2 hours, and restarting it will restart the brewing process. To avoid re-percolating the already percolated coffee grounds, remove the basket and stem about 20 minutes after initial brewing is complete. When, after 2 hours, the percolator shuts off but you’d like to keep it on longer, you can easily reheat the coffee by pressing the start button. Without the basket and stem inside the percolator, it will simply reheat, not re-brew your coffee. If, however, you leave the basket and stem in the percolator and want to reheat the coffee after it automatically shuts off, understand that if the percolator has been off for 10 minutes or more, it will re-percolate the already percolated grounds. The result will be a bitter-tasting coffee. ALWAYS remove the basket and stem after the initial brewing temperature process, just in case you need to restart the percolator after it automatically shuts off. This percolator is easy to clean. Wait until the percolator has cooled before cleaning. Waiting until it’s cooled means you won’t burn yourself and won’t damage the percolator. Never run cooler water into a hot percolator because doing so could damage any heat sensors inside the base of the percolator. Just don’t submerge the percolator. I use a soapy scrubbing sponge to clean the lid and the percolator’s interior and then rinse out the interior under the faucet. I then wipe off any excess water from the exterior and base of the unit, and then turn it upside down to drain. The separate base that plugs into a standard outlet needs no care, just an occasional wiping with a damp cloth while unplugged will suffice. Some have complained of leakage with this percolator, but if they’re saying it’s from the base of the pot, that is not an issue I have experienced. It’s true that the lid of the percolator has 3 small holes drilled into one side of the rim, and as a result of these holes, a few drops of the brew might escape with the release of steam during the brewing process. Any liquid released through these vents is hardly noticeable and doesn’t occur with regularity. As I said, leakage is not an issue with this percolator. I like the convenience of being able to take the pot into another room to pour and then return it to its base in the kitchen. Overall, I rate this percolator 4 1/2 stars. The only reason I didn’t rate it a 5 is because the keep-warm feature shuts off after only 2 hours. Like I mentioned earlier, you can just press the button on the percolator to switch it back on (RED means the coffee needs to reheat; BLUE means the coffee is still hot enough and only needs to stay hot). Just make sure the basket and stem are removed after the first brewing because, depending on how long the pot has been off, when you press the button back on to reheat the coffee, it will start percolating the used grounds, and you don’t want that. Without the basket and stem, the pot will simply heat the coffee, not restart the brewing process. Additionally, this percolator so far has proven to be durable and relatively quiet when brewing. A great item for the money, and so much more convenient and producing better coffee than the Keurig or any other pod machine of the genre. NOTE: for those wondering why there are 3 holes on the side of the percolator’s lid, it’s physics: 1. steam release 2. Allows coffee to pour more evenly UPDATE—percolator vs. Keurig, 2/5/25: just want to report that my ELITE GOURMET PERCOLATOR continues to provide excellent coffee. My husband knows absolutely nothing about working in the kitchen, so as to making coffee, you can be sure that him handling anything more complicated than dropping a pod into a Keurig is something he wants no part of. Problem solved: I prepare the pot before bed. Thus, as soon as he awakens in the morning, and tells me that he’s “going to make the coffee”, he means he’s going to press the switch to start the brewing process. When we owned Keurig (and we owned several throughout the years, once the brand presented on the market; they don’t last), there was nothing to do but to drop a pod into the pod holder and then press the button to start. If that sort of convenience is what you’re looking for, of course the percolator may not be for you…But preparing the pot prior to retiring for the night is as close in convenience to the Keurig as one can get. Once you start the percolator, you can attend to other tasks; and in about 8 minutes your brew is ready. What the percolator lacks (as compared to the ease of brewing coffee in the Keurig), it makes up for in maintenance: • no having to maintain the water carafe • no cleaning process requiring costly solutions and at least a half hour of your time The percolator does not retain water while it is idle, so there is no need for time-consuming maintenance with costly cleaning solutions. And for those who believe that the cheaper cleaning solutions that their manufacturers claim will work on Keurig, I’ve found this to be untrue. I used Keurig’s cleaning solution once, and had no issues with the machine. Subsequently, when using so-called “universal” cleaning solutions guaranteed to work in Keurig machines, my Keurigs ceased working. Another thing about the Keurig brewers and others of this genre is the thought of standing water always remaining inside the body of the brewer. That water is only released with the next brew cycle; so for me, brewing a cup of hot water solves that problem but it also wastes water. The ELITE GOURMET PERCOLATOR retains NO water during down-time and only requires (after each use) just a bit of scrubbing of its interior, a rinse, and you’re done! I’ve owned this ELITE GOURMET PERCOLATOR for almost a year now, and it gets a daily workout; so it has proven it can take the rigors of the most dedicated coffee drinker. In another few months, I will provide an additional update. Hopefully, my percolator will still be going strong. Until then…

I had an Elite Gourmet Percolator for many years, and it finally quit. I couldn't find the same model, so I ordered this one, and was very disappointed on day 2. And then it stopped working altogether after about 2 months. Pros: The new screen has finer mesh for a slower drip, so it makes a very good cup of coffee. It's a good percolator, and it's easy to use and clean. They've added some features that land in both the pro and con category. It has an auto-off timer of 30 minutes. This is nice, as the old one would pretty much stay on all day if you forgot about it. Cons: The auto-off features is VERY poorly executed. If you lift it up to pour a cup and set it back on the power base, you have to remember to turn it back on every time, or it won't keep the pot hot. EVERYONE in our house forgets, so we bought an insulated carafe and just immediately pour the coffee in there after it brews. So we spent $60 to correct that issue (I was fine with that, because it's better to keep coffee insulated rather than continue heating it, but still). I've never timed the 30 minute auto-off, but it seems to quick. When we weren't using the carafe, it was usually shut off before it seemed we were done with coffee time. FAIL: Now whatever chip they added to introduce these auto "features" failed inconsistently starting after the first month. We started a pot, the light turned red as usual, and when I came back, it was blue, so it was done.... but the water inside was room temperature, the coffee grounds were dry, and it never actually brewed. But then the next day, it worked normally. This went on very sporadically for a few months, and now it just goes straight to blue and never brews. In summary, they took a great product, tried to improve on perfection, and failed. This was a disappointment when it was working as intended, and kind of a relief when it broke. I'll have to search a little better for the original model, or just pick a new brand? I don't know. Everyone in my family that uses a percolator uses this brand; they just haven't needed to replace theirs since the new auto-off features have been introduced. I have warned them. (by warning them, I mean, that we had a bday party recently when the coffee pot decided to quit for good. I made coffee on the stove and strained it into the carafe. Everyone complimented the coffee, so I mentioned the whole predicament so they would know to watch out in the future)

I always used a percolator when I was younger, but decided to switch to a drip coffee maker when they were the new thing. For various reasons I ordered this on Monday, received it early morning on Tuesday and got busy. The intense smell of the brewing coffee was wonderful -- which wasn't the case with my drip pots. The coffee itself was rich and HOT, so good. I found that I can reduce the amount of ground coffee I'd been using to get rich coffee from the drip pot, so there's a bit of economy there. It also takes up much less space on my countertops. This is a great coffee maker and I don't think you'll be disappointed in it. UPDATE: I still like this percolator very much. There are two things I would call attention to: FIRST, The instructions say to take off the lid by pulling the top knob. I DO NOT do this. I have had experience in the past with other percolators and know that the knobs can be broken and hard to replace. For this reason, I always remove the lid by gently turning and lifting the entire lid by the sides. SECOND, I have seen comments from users that the percolator did not make coffee, even though it went through its cycle. You MUST make sure the tube is seated directly into the matching well inside the pot. I missed the correct seating on two occasions, and got no coffee for my efforts. When that happened, I simply poured out the hot water and refilled the pot with cold water to start over. If you are in doubt about the tube being seated correctly you can insert the tube first and then put the basket onto the tube before filling it with the ground coffee. I do this sometimes, just to make sure. I have not had problems with grounds in the finished coffee, but if that happened, a paper filter would likely take care of the problem.

So I want to start off with.. I have purchased this product twice… once in October 2023 & again in December 2023. When we first got this percolator, we loved it. No issues ! I liked it compared to our previous coffee makers which you couldn’t seem to clean very well. However One day my sweet six-year-old wanted to make coffee for mom and dad(my husband & I) and while rinsing it he barely got the bottom of the percolator wet… Something my husband and I have been very careful with. Frustrated we did troubleshooting and tried contacting the company and of course it was now outside of any return window and it also was the week before Christmas. As a busy mom like most with three kids I was not about to start the week before Christmas without coffee and we had thought this coffee maker had no issues and so I thought we would re-order it of course and it went up in price by $10 since I last purchased it in October, a bit frustrated but what are you gonna do? You need your coffee before Christmas. I reluctantly re-ordered and our second coffee maker came in just in time for Christmas my husband and I used it maybe five times since then and now. We actually found out that coffee was a big catalyst for a lot of his stomach problems. And I have been cutting back on my caffeine intake anyway so got it used a handful of times… Fast forward to today, I thought you know what, I haven’t had coffee in a while let me go ahead and make some. I Carefully cleaned it and put everything in, I even forgot how to make it, like the amounts of coffee to water ration, so I called my husband & figured it out, & set it up & pushed the button but to my surprise, it turned blue Instead of the red that it is supposed to make while brewing. I unplugged it, plugged it back in check that everything looks good. A bit frustrating when there’s no reason for this machine not to work, I will NOT be rebuying. After spending near 90 dollars combined with both coffee makers, for them to not work more than two months.. I understand the first one it got wet BARELY! But this time no reason to die out I was extremely careful in cleaning it. Buyer beware, you’ll love it til you hate it

First off, streamlined design. Very simple to use. Basic classic design. 12 cups of coffee in less than five minutes! Hotter than any drip coffee maker I have owned. It turns off in two hours and is easy to reheat. I haven’t found it to turn the coffee bitter when reheated. Very easy to clean and maintain. I also purchased the inner mesh basket suggested and am glad I did. Zero grinds in bottom of pot when you measure correctly to recommended levels and don’t overload coffee grinds. Received many compliments on the coffee and the fresh flavour. Especially the serving temperature. Have used basic Folgers Classic Roast also gourmet specialty coffee blends. Equally delicious! No cons on this percolater for us! Have recommended to those that have tried the coffee and inquired as to the make . I waited a bit to see how this percolater held up and after daily use felt I should share my opinions. This is not a paid review or am I compensated for my review. Just a happy customer! Natasha

You know, I loved this coffee perc. Simple, easy, very quick.......BUT DON'T BE FOOLED! 12 cups.... more like 8, not even...yet, I loved it...... but like an adulterous wife..... sooner 0r later you got to admit.... I can no longer live with this.....it started to rust..... it started to leak... just a few drips but we know it leads to more. When I realized what I liked most about it was not true anymore I decided to return it. Not that easy. I am is Canada, it is made in USA! SORRY.... can't help you. BUT AMAZON!!!! they voted for me.... gave me a no hassel refund on my return... same day!!!! And then they force me to give at least one star.... so I did! But the star is a black hole.

Love this machine. Makes a nice and smooth cup of coffee every time. It is a little bigger than you think it is, I could’ve probably just gotten away with the 6 cup maker, but there are markers inside the basket and inside the carafe to indicate how many cups you want so there’s no guessing on coffee to water ratio. If you intend on using a fine grind (which does work - finishing the coffee I already have ground before grinding more), I highly recommend you get little filters for it to keep the grinds out of your coffee. You won’t need them if you use a course grind. As far as noise, it sounds a little louder than a kettle (admittedly scared me the first time I used it, but I’m used to using a moka pot which is silent).
