The can (from november 2015) says caught in the pacific ocean, made in china, canned in usa." what is the made in china part?

China is on the Pacific Ocean ;) so somewhere between the US & China, the tuna was caught. It was taken to China, prepared, then canned & labeled in the US.

Are the cans BPA free?

It is in a tin can with a paper label wrapped around it. BTW the tuna taste great.

How much sodium per ounce?

Does it need a opener?

There are small metal tools some looking like a thumb that easily open tab top cans. I have used an old spoon to lift the tab. Just slide under sideways holding can firmly on counter with one hand and using other hand to slip spoon edge under tab. Then push up spoon with thumb or handle to open.
