Comtrend’s PG-9182POE, G.hn Powerline Adapter with dual Gigabit 802.3af/at POE Ethernet Ports, is a G.hn-based Powerline device designed to give users a better alternative to connect devices within a home or business network. Using existing electrical wiring and Powerline technology, devices can now be connected at wired speeds without expensive rewiring with Ethernet (CAT5e/6) cables. With new G.hn technology, real world Powerline performance is significantly improved over current Powerline standards. G.hn minimizes the line of interference and maximizes video throughput. Review: Ideal solution for remote hard-wired Ethernet connections that require POE - This is an ideal solution for remote hard-wired Ethernet connections that require POE If you are in need of a hard-wired Ethernet connection in your home and do not want to run CAT5 across you’re the floor length of our home creating a trip hazard, and do not want to install a CAT5 home-run though your walls or attic, then you should take a serious look at the Comtrend Powerline devices, Comtrend latest models are the 9182PT, and 9182PoE. The Comtrend G.hn Wave 2 Powerline Ethernet Adapters works exactly as advertised. Both the 9182PT, and 9182PoE comes with two Gigabit Ports. The 9182PoE supports 802.3 PoE up to 30Watts. The installation and pairing process is straight forward and easy. Their web sit also offers great documentation. After installing and pairing the 9182PoE devices, I did a speed test with my Poe Phone and computer connected via the two 9182PoE devices, and then I did a speed test with my units connected via 75 foot of CAT5E cable. When I compared the results, I did not notice any latency, and my download speeds were almost the same as via CAT5. I highly recommend this product, it is sturdy, fast, and easy to setup. Some notes for you. PowerLine is a term that refers to getting an ethernet signal through your power lines. All PowerLine products regardless of brand have a few basic requirements. A) The setup requires a minimum of two devices. The first device must be connected to your router modem as it will function as the transmitter. The second or third device will act receivers. B) If your need PoE, only the Comtrend receiver needs to be the PoE model. C) The wall outlet that the transmitter plugs into, and the wall outlet that receiver plugs into must get their power from the same breaker box (also called a Service Panel). In the typical home this should not be an issue. However, if you are considering installing these adapters in a business, you need to do some research as it is very common for offices to have two or more Service Panels. D) do your research, as there are a few different brands and models on the market, and the throughput varies from model to model. Review: Missed Connection - These devices have an incredibly intuitive, easy install process and the directions were simple and you can have these things working (theoretically) in under two minutes and the POE is very convenient. My only complaint is that the devices never connected. I tried everything I could and reviewed internet FAQs and have my Cisco CNE - not a novice. Anyway, for the price of these adapters, their QC should be much better. I would be very happy if I could have just gotten them to connect.

Works as advertised, good support.
July 7,2020 I have a Comtrend PG-9182S4 four port ethernet in my basement uplinked to my router, and comtrend PG-9182PoE on my Patio with a Linksys LAPAC1750 access-point attached and a second PG-9182PoE in a building that is 100 feet away from my house with a second Linksys LAPAC1750 access-point. It passes three vlans from my lan switch in the house to the remote access-points that correspond to 3 SSID WLAN networks. A single PG-9182S4 can support two remote PG-9182PoE devices. Also Comtrend and NexusLink are the same company are compatible as long as you pair 2 G.hn with 2 G.hn or G.hn with G.hn According to their support Comtrend caters to Internet Service Providers, where NexusLink is more for the home market. If you have compatibility questions, prior to purchasing, Comtrend has good support via email and respond promptly . Comtrend also has great post purchase email support. Update: Jan 11, 2022 I added a second PG-9182POE for a second remote Linksys LAPAC1750 access-point and two PG-9182PT to add a wired connection for my kids rooms. Gaming lag was better with the Comtrend wired connection vs the wireless connection.

Failed after 30 hours
Failed after 30 hours. Throughput was about 45Mbit when working, but the devices stopped pairing after about a day. Promptly returned. Would not recommend — this entire niche segment (Powerline) seems problematic. I would guess that, if you use this product, expect to press the pair button frequently.

Good 2.4/5G extenders you’ll need 2 to tango
Relatively easy to use just follow the directions and your instincts. If you unplug it by mistake as long as you’re on the same electrical line when you re-plug it in they connect pretty outstanding.
