No, that won’t work, I tried! Order this instead. It’s more expensive but super thick and sticky, comes with brads as well and closed over a 2” gap on my screen door. Can it come off easily without ruining door?

Yes, mine did. You may need to apply a blow dryer to heat it up some. But it comes off.

Will this damage a painted door or wood door upon removal?

Yes, it destroye the paint on my bedroom door don't do it!

Does this work better when placed inside or outside the door?

If it is an interior door like a bedroom door, you can put it on either side. If it is a main door leading to the outside, I recommend using it on the inside. You can put it on the outside but weather conditions will deteriorate the quality of the product over time.
