These lights are wonderful! Easy to install and have a nice glow in standby mode and then gradually light up when motion is detected. Also, they’re a good size and attractive! We tried solar powered lights but apparently didn’t have enough sun to power them for very long. Returned those and bought these instead. Would definitely recommend!!

Our outdoor stairs desperately needed some modern lighting to replace a failed low-voltage AC system that was feeble and wan in its best days. The old system was on a timer that would get out of sync every time there's a power failure. Being third-world California, that seems to happen on any day that ends in "y". We searched and searched. Solar-powered units are plentiful, but my experience with solar-powered yard accessories is that the batteries last maybe a couple years and then the whole unit must be replaced. Not exactly green. Then I encountered these. They're powered by three ordinary alkaline C-cells each, with a claimed battery life of a couple years. Hm! They look nice, not "plastic-y." They're a dark espresso brown. They're compact and fit nicely on a standard vertical support post. Best of all, they have photosensors so they shut off in the daytime, and motion sensors so they automatically transit from a soft glow to quite bright when someone approaches. Ideal! I installed just one at first to see if it illuminated well. And: the down-light is a bright cool white LED and casts crisp, unambiguous shadows, which many folks need for safety on stairs. That's important! So far so good! So I installed the rest of the units I purchased. Each is held in place with two screws-- so easy. The housing just slides off and on. We'll see if the C-cells last the claimed two years-- I found a multi-pack of made-in-USA Eveready Energizers here for a good price. If they do, these lights will merit the provisional five stars I'm awarding them. We're very happy with them. Made in China, of course.

Surprised how well this light has worked out, Makes just right amount of light to show slope on ramp and steps. Purchased it 11 months ago still on same batteries when I installed it .

I tried solar however, the location does not provide enough sunlight to charge them. I took the plunge on these battery operated. These work perfectly! Love the soft illuminating night light that is always on at night. These are also brighter than the solar lights I have. They have 3 level settings for brightness as well as 2 settings to adjust the length of time the lights stay on. They come on at dusk and off at dawn. The batteries (C size not included) are stated to last over a year depending on your preferred settings. The only reason I did not rate 5 stars is that one of the light sensors would not detect motion unless you were a foot to two feet away. The other one, activated when I was 20 feet away. I called the company and Judy was awesome! She is sending a replacement with no need to return the bad one. I am waiting to see how they hold up in rain and snow.

I purchased two to try (these are not cheap) and really liked how they do help light up the outside stairs. It's an easy mounting plate, then you insert the batteries, slip this onto the mounting plate, it has some settings on a switch on the underside. I keep these on low. They maintain a low light when there is nearby movement but brighten when approached. I liked these enough to purchase two more sets. It makes my outdoor stairs safer at night without needing to run wire. They look nice as well. There is a very thin gasket inside, I imagine to help with any rain. I've used these less than a month so can't speak for durability, battery life, excessive rain or heat tolerance but right at this exact moment, I am happy with them and keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way, that they have really good durability (many many years of use, hopefully better than expected battery life as well). If these can tolerate tropical rain and heat, better than expected battery life, this product will be worth every penny.

Very surprised how long the battery lasts. Got 6 months out of them. The sensor has a far range. These worked perfectly on my wooden deck to illuminate the stairs at night.

Fell from a 5 star to a 1 star. Why? I bought one a month ago and it was fabulous. Did exactly what it was supposed to do and still is doing it. So I bought a second one. The second one lite up and but the motion detection portion did not work at all. So I went through the trouble of installing it in our Wisconsin cold weather outside for nothing. The reason I give the lowest rating is that I am a manufacturer, and I don't use my customers to become the quality control point. Every product going out the door should be tested, and it should not be left to the consumer to accept the crapshoot method of determining if the one he gets works or not. That is the job of the manufacturer. So if you buy this product, just beware that there are some that are going to work and some that are not. To me, that is wrong, sad, and a very poor business model which is why they get a one start rating. I had planned to give it five stars initially because the first one worked so well, but all that changed with the delivery of the second one. I guess I just got lucky on the first try and should have quit while I was ahead. So gamble if you choose. To the manufacturer: test your products before sending them to the marketplace and then you might get 5 stars across the board because when this item works, it is great!

I love these lights......so far considering I just purchased four of them. The adjustable activation time and three levels of brightness is beneficial. The website info indicates the batteries can last up to two years. If it is only half of that I would be satisfied. However, they are a bit pricey but more important to me is how well they will weather over time? The battery cover is plastic, snaps in and fits well. But without any type of gasket will moisture seep in over time and begin to corrode components? To protect my investment, it may require some type of additional weather proofing.

I use this outdoors in Canadian weather. It has lasted well for over a year and I've only replaced the batteries once. It is constantly on at night, dim, but brightens with motion detection. I have it on the door frame near the lock so I can see what I'm doing better.

I use them on each side of my doorway. Good lighting for unlocking door at night. I like the different settings for brightness and they look nice sensor is very good also .They have a thin seal around the battery opening will see if they last through rain and snow. I use them at the lowest setting which is what I need.

Perfect little lights for the side yard or path. I’ve had one for a year and just bought another. The batteries last a long time. Easy to mount and well- built.
