Could have been a pamphlet
4 stars. Maybe 3.5 for fluff I'm almost done with this book and it has been helpful. To be fair, I understood very little about pre-tax investment accounts, stocks, bonds etc when I picked it up. I do plan to implement a lot of his advice. Pros: - Easy read - my book worm 11 year old picked it up 🤣 - I like the checklists at the end of the chapters. I'll use this like a manual when I make these changes in our finances - The blueprint at the end is probably enough to get the gyst, which I'll be rereading - Good information on stocks, bonds and how to start a diverse investment portfolio for dummies from scratch (me) Cons: - Very fluffy - conversations verbatim, instructions on how to Google things, repetitive, etc. - Annoying to feel like he's trying to sell me something the whole time but maybe it's supposed to be encouraging - Sometimes has pushy language (HERE'S WHAT YOU'RE DOING 😂 maybe that's just how I read it but still annoying to me) - Very very redundant - I skimmed a lot - Feels like he stuffed keywords - "Automatic millionaire" is in there approximately 45 times - One part that feels out of touch is he doesn't even mention expenses like groceries. We have a family of 7 and groceries are a huge cost now which his tables don't even include - Automating everything is great when your income is consistent. Ours is not so I hesitate to do this 100%. - Feels like it sounds great on paper but will be difficult in practice with real life thrown in there. Kids need clothes, shoes, healthcare, glasses, braces, nutritious food, school needs. There is no category for life things on his idealistic pyramids - Dispute what he states (you don't need a lot of money to make this work) it left me feeling like we need more money to make this work 😂 All in all, I would recommend this book as a starting point to understanding investments and retirement. Practically, I don't know how much of this we will be able to manage while supporting our family of 7 on one income, but I'm excited to try and motivated to make positive changes to our investments, as much as we are able!

Practical Guide on how to build wealth
Recently I have been enjoying reading books on saving and investing (I know, super lame lol). However this book was unlike any other book I have ever read. It hooked me immediately by making it very personal about a couple I could only hope to envision was my wife and myself in 20 years. Through some very simple story telling and avoidance of complex math and explanations, it just gives you the simple truths about investing a good portion of your wages and living below your means. I am sure many people will say “duh” at the concepts in this book on how you should put aside a percentage of your money for your future self. However this book tells the story through a couple that provides hope that you can do it yourself, which is very motivating. Read the book. You will see that you can also be successful if you make the right choices. This book was so motivating that I finished it in 3 days. I frequently get bored reading, but I couldn’t put this down. Key Concepts: Invest 10-20% of your wages for retirement before your take home pay. You won’t miss it. Avoid silly debt like expensive cars and things that you might think impresses people. Nobody truly cares. Live below your means and let the difference create wealth. I hope the emotional effect this book had on me can work on you, and give you the motivation you need to take action to automate your finances. It is so simple anyone can do it.

You can learn something new here whatever your level
After seeing a podcast involving David Bach, I browsed through his books and decided to buy this one even though I know a lot about personal finances. I still learned several very interesting points, which I put into practice right away. Now jumping to another one of his books.
