I wasn't expecting the surface to be glass but it seems like very durable, probably tempered glass. This makes this relatively affordable product look and feel much more expensive. That doesn't really matter too much but it's a nice bonus! The legs are made of plastic and consist of 4 pieces (per leg) that snap together. The first piece is screwed to the surface, and the rest snap in place. I haven't had any issues with them, and they seem to be decent quality without any of that stray plastic residue/sharp edges that often come with cheap plastic products. I am very pleased with the aesthetic - simple and clean. They're the perfect height for me with all leg sections attached. Each section adds about 1" (maybe a little more) of height so it's technically slightly height adjustable if you remove sections.
