Good rack mount rails
These installed smoothly and the Synology RS2414+ went in without a hitch. Not quite as sturdy as some of their rails I've used in the past, but they worked fine.

This is a stupid idea in pratice. My 12 bay Nas fell and crashed 4 8tb drives. A trajedy... that synology likely will never fix
I purchased these a while back from Synology when I purchased my 12 bay Nas... and today I just mounted it inside my rack with these rails... unfortunately after installing, the nas fell inside my rack and crashed 4 8tb drives. At first I thought these were pretty good quality... but when you get a heavy computer mounted to it... the rails bent inward, and came apart. As such now I say that they are way too flimsly... and I would never use a rail like this again if my life depended on it. From now on... I will use a shelf, and forget the roller slide. My equipment is just too important to rely on stupid ideas like these. In addition... the slides don't come out far enough to open the lid on my NAS anyway... so basically they were useless for their intended purpose. Don't buy these... not ever. Its a nice idea...in thought... but in practice very stupid. In addition, they are really hard to get your NAS onto the rails when you are putting it into the rack. I will never use these again. Nor will you if you think about it.

Too long, too expensive
The rails seem well-built, but they don't fit my 25"-deep rack, even though they're (very) adjustable. Since they're adjustable anyway, they should have made them so that they fit every size rack, from the small office rack to enterprise-class data center racks. So I have to send them back, which is disappointing. I also rate them lower because they're absurdly expensive for something that should actually just come with the RS814 in the first place. I'll have to jury-rig something to support the back of the unit after I mount it with just the front brackets.

Three Stars
Work fine in standard racks. Over priced, should be included with the unit.

Necessary for most Synology rackmount products
These really should be included with every Synology rack mount NAS because they are absolutely required. The Synology NAS's are just too long and heavy to be supported by front screws alone (except for the compact units like the RS214). Otherwise, you would need to mount it on a heavy duty shelf or resting on top of another device. I've installed 2 units with these rails and they work well. They are especially easy and quick to install if you have square hole racks because they snap right into the square hole (only 1 screw per corner required). They are a bit flimsy but are more than strong enough to support the 1U devices. The inner rails are removable and snap on to the NAS (no screws required for most units). These rails are sliding so you can slide the unit out although there is no wire management provided. I had one issue with one of my rack mount cabinets being too short in depth to fit the minimum length of these rails. I had to take the whole cabinet apart and adjust the rear columns further back. I guess they are a little long because we never had this issue before with our server or UPS rail kits. Again it is a bit disappointing that Synology doesn't include them especially since they are expensive for what you get.

I didn't buy these years ago.
They work great and easy to install.

Be careful before ordering
I have a pretty very deep rack and these things would were not adjustable enough to fit. The depth of the rack almost needs to be twice that of the unit these are designed to hold. Stupid design not to be able to adjust to a reasonable depth. Crazy. Wasted my money by not having time to install before I could return it. Check your measurements first.

Excellent built quality, just make sure it fits before you buy.
This is a very good rack kit, just be certain it will fit your rack before ordering. I had a 26" deep rack enclosure from Middle Atlantic, and this kit would not work for 3 reasons: 1. The rack rails are actually longer than 26". They are more like 26.75", so they were too long to connect properly to my enclosure. 2. The rack rails are designed for a rack enclosure with square rail holes. Not the standard round threaded holes my rack has. 3. My rack was a standard 19" width, and it was too narrow for the Synology unit with the rails attached. Overall, this kit is very well designed. The way the rails extend out and connect to the Synology unit was impressive. I just wish it would have fit my rack enclosure.
