Hamilton Beach Panini Press, Sandwich Maker & Electric Indoor Grill

I am now a panini addict! I purchased this panini maker because it got good reviews and was inexpensive. I was so glad I made this choice! It's super easy to use, just plug it in and wait for it to heat up. There is no option to control the heat, but every sandwich I've made has come out great! I've been eating panini sandwiches almost every day since I got this about 3 weeks ago. Yeah, there are lots of other appliances out there that have more bells and whistles, but this one does the job and does it very well! I've used pita bread, ciabatta bread and sourdough bread to make sandwiches so far. You do have to remember to unplug it or it will just stay on. Also cleaning it is a chore, but I just take a damp paper towel to wipe it down after it has cooled off. Other, more expensive models may have removable press plates that can be washed easily, but for me the trade off is actually having to remove them and later put them back on....I'd rather just wipe it down. Also I love that you can store it closed and standing upright which makes it easy to put in a cabinet for storage or, like I do, to push back against the counter wall out of the way, since I use it every day. Either way it uses less kitchen real estate than most other panini makers.

EDIT_ it's been almost 2 years_ and no problems- still working_ oct 2016__upped rating to 4 1/2 stars cause still working July 2017. I really like this. it was $23 when I bought it- less expensive than most toasters. EDIT_ i noticed they raised the price of this 1 to $35-ish in July 2017_ they also make this in red_ also has 8 inch by 10 inch cooking plates_ has the same floating hinge that u can lock in any position and comes with the same clip to keep it closed when u store it on it's side_ currently it's only $22-ish Hamilton Beach 25460A Panini Press Gourmet Sandwich Maker First use was for reheating leftover pizza. It did an excellent job at reheating the pizza without making it soggy like the microwave does. I put a piece of foil on bottom plate-so I wouldn't have to clean the grill- the top plate can be locked in any position- so it doesn't touch top of pizza. The bottom of pizza became crispy & the pizza heat all the way thru in just a few minutes. There was enough room for 2 thick, square pieces plus a couple of breadsticks. The instructions say this is not to be used to cook things like steak & burgers. The top plate can be locked in any position between fully opened & closed. The cord can be wound around pegs under bottom plate. There's a clip to lock machine in closed position. It can be stored on side only taking about 5 inches of counter space. Instruction book has a few recipes using tortillas, pizza crust, refrigerator crescent rolls. You can go to Hamilton beach website to register appliance & find more recipes. It comes with a 1 year warranty- but we have to pay for shipping to & from repair center- & if you can buy a new 1 for $25-ish__ it might be cheaper to buy a new one. It's very sturdy/solid- metal & hard plastic. Just used it for the first time. Works well, heats pretty quickly, cleans up nicely, stows away easily (I have a skinny useless cabinet that is perfect to stash it). I'm still learning, but it was easy enough. Now I have to experiment with what breads are better than others, ingredients, etc. That has nothing to do with the machine, but just saying theres a lot of different creative options to try. I was told good bakery bread works better, and maybe it does, but I think I want to try cheap pre-sliced wheat with sparse ingredients and make a pressed flat crispy old-school "grandma's grilled cheese" style. It's gonna be fun to play around with it. Good unit, worth the price (IMO)

I bought this for my husband because he had been wanting a panini grill. I looked at the fancier, bigger, higher priced grills, but went with this one because it has a history of good reviews. Perhaps when he proves he is responsible with this one, I will get him an upgrade :) This one is nice because there arent a lot of settings to worry about and try to remember what settings to use for what. Just turn it on, watch for the light, and then you're ready to throw your sandwich on there. He always uses thick sourdough bread and is happy with the way his sandwiches turn out. I told him to butter the grill, not the bread, and so now his results are much better. The non stick grill surfaces are nice and easy to clean. Even if a little cheese oozes out, it wipes right off with a paper towel. Nothing sticks to the surface at all. It is the perfect size for two nice sandwiches (on large bread), but yet not too big and bulky to have to worry about where to store it and it is not so big that it is cumbersome to move around and clean, etc. A lot of the other lower priced models that I looked at did not have the floating lid. This one does have the hinged floating lid so you can get thick sandwiches in there and the lid will lay flat and evenly on top. Aside from sandwiches, it is nice for burgers and steaks too. Nice to have something like this when it is too cold to go outside and run the big propane grill. We eat NY Strip and Porterhouse steaks a lot, so this little grill is really nice to get us through the winter months and not miss out on the beefy goodness. This sears them perfectly and we are able to get them done to our liking of "medium well." Boneless split chicken breasts/tenders work out wonderfully as well. It feels very well made, especially for the price and we are both happy with it. I am happy to have found such a good model at such a good price and he is happy that it works so well and is easy to use. It is the perfect combination of price, performance and value. It is not lacking any necessary features and the build quality is perfect.

For the last few months, we have been using this panini press to make grilled cheese sandwiches and other toasted sandwiches. These sandwiches have all came out near perfect, melting the cheese just right and not burning the bread. The heat distribution on the press was great at first, though seems to have gotten worse over time. At first, all sandwiches were perfectly browned. This has transitioned to the outside facing bread being toasted quite a bit more than the insides. This is easily fixed by turning the sandwiches midway through cooking, though it is an inconvenience nonetheless. There is also no way to control the temperature, meaning that you will constantly be plugging and unplugging this device. You will also not be able to adjust the temperature to your liking, which could be a massive downside. Finally, cleaning this thing is a pain. There is no way to pull the grills off to clean, so you will need to wipe it down to keep it clean. I normally do a wipe with a wet paper towel and finish up with some dawn dish soap, water, and a dry pat. Even through all these downsides, this has still been one of the best purchases I have made for the kitchen. Every sandwich that comes out of this press tastes like heaven (and it looks cool). Well worth the asking price to me.

The product is excellent and delivers superior performance. However, be cautious of the seller who intentionally ships it without the “free skewers.” When you request a replacement, the pickup agent refuses to collect it, citing the same issue—the skewers are missing from the box, which is exactly why you’re returning it in the first place. As a result, the pickup gets rejected. Many customers give up at this stage and end up keeping the product without the skewers, which is precisely what the seller is counting on. Fortunately, I have plenty of patience. I escalated the issue to Amazon Support, and the pickup agent returned—this time without checking for the missing skewers—and successfully collected the product. The replacement unit arrived with the skewers included. For anyone wondering, the product itself is genuine and sold by authorized Hamilton Beach resellers on Amazon. I verified this with their customer service before purchasing and successfully registered the product for a 2-year warranty. Aside from the missing-skewer issue, everything checks out perfectly, and the product is worth every penny.
