Water resistant to a degree and also along the height of the sole and molding. so ok for shallow puddles but will wet out on the top material in rain etc. I think these are as much a hi-top sneaker as they are a 'walking boot' They are comfortable and i think they look good but if I was after water proof I would go for something with a water proof lining. You may like to consider Salomon or lowa (I have a pair of each brand) but those are more expensive.
