Excellent every artist should have a copy
Excellent this is the man. To bad all critiques aren't as integrity driven as Ruskin. He really has a way of putting into words what art and the artistic eye is without all the bolder dash that now plagues most critics. And a damn good teacher as well.

It has solid information for artists who do not want to rush but do it right
I am felt joy the moment I touched the cover of the book. It seems like it has veladuras. A great cover for a wonderful book. This is not for the artist who wants to rush, but for those who want to learn the tricks of drawing through practice, concentration and repetition. The goal is to train the brain to see, estimate distances,and lengths and make the hand to move in accordance. I have taken tons of hours of drawing, during my BA and MFA in painting, have taught painting and drawing, but I always wanted to draw like those whose masters was in drawing not in painting like mine. Well this book gives me the tools to teach myself how to draw as I want to draw.

No Illustrations
Lacking illustrations and formatting. Quick print, missing the most essential parts of the text. Buy a real print of this book, not this.

Seems like a good book
Seems like a good book. It was recommended. It gives instructions and says see illustrations - and there aren't any illustrations. Would love to have the complete book.

Book = 5, production = 0 stars
The messages and exercises of the book are beautifully designed. The language, style, and references within are dated but easy to understand and a fun change of pace. The printing production is poor. It seems to be a photo-reproduction of an old-fashioned font that wasn't printed as cleanly as it should have been. Worst, of course, is that the publisher cheated us by leaving out every figure that the book references. Nevertheless, one can still gain great value by following the exercises as described.

What to say,a book by greatest art critics and theorists n man of reason of all time (as even Mahatma Gandhi looked him as a Guru n hailed his thoughts n ideas.) Ok so this is just a part of huge writings from J Ruskin;Just go carefully through d introductory description and preview written about this book on amazon itself and one can get idea why this is a great and useful book Just copying n pasting a part under book discription as----- This classic retains its relevance some 150 years after its first appearance and should be on every artist's bookshelf.' Leisure Painter (June 2007) 'The book is an absolute delight and proves that traditional teaching methods by a good artist and tutor should never be overlooked in our age of digital technology and instant results.'

Ruskin was a famous art critic and a fine artist. He was the first to understand and recognize the beauty and the novelty that Turner's paintings represented. No better man to give drawing tips! A book that every drawing addict must have!

Simple on concise and a must for any artist. A great addition to Ruskin's original book "The Elements of Drawing".
