It worked as advertised. So far so good. I lost track of it for a moment while adjusting my snorkel and mask and it floated beside me. I love this feature.

** update 8/25/22** I received a replacement unit since I was having issues with my original. I immediately went to test it out with my GoPro hero 9 attached and was happy to see this tripod floating in the water. I tested the floating capabilities several times by throwing the selfie stick into the pool. I also held the selfie stick at the bottom of the pool a few times and it floated back to the surface several times. Having a tripod that floats is extremely convenient. No need to carry a floating selfie stick and a tripod anymore because this floating selfie stick does it all! DOES NOT FLOAT. I attached a GoPro hero 9 to this floating tripod and it sank to bottom of my pool. Feels very poorly made so I cannot recommend anyone buy this for in or out of the water. The extension pole feels thin and easily breakable. I have other brands of selfie sticks and tripods that feels more sturdy and built with much higher quality materials.

Worked for one day, then once the middle section got stuck It wouldn't collapse all the way down. So much for it being compact. The tubing is seamed which I'm pretty sure is why it gets stuck. And once it's stuck, no matter how hard you try to twist it to collapse it it won't budge. The rest of the components seemed to be reasonably well made, but the fact the locking and unlocking was so janky I would not recommend.

as advertised, i even throw it in the water and swim after it for fun

I've purchased two of these and both have broken the same way while underwater. The first time I was at 130 feet, which is past the advertised max depth, so I figured that was my fault. Today was the second time, I was only at 91 feet and the same thing happened. The legs that make it float are hollow and at depth they can crack/rupture. The first time I heard the loud crack, but underwater you're not really sure where the sound comes from. This time, I knew what that sound meant and sure enough when I got to the surface, there was water in the legs. Also, over time the plastic mount point starts to flex a bit and I worry about my goPro snapping off and falling into the depths. I do go on a lot of dives (65 in the last 12 months) so perhaps I'm expecting too much. I'll be looking for something a bit sturdier for my next stick. This one doesn't seem to be study enough for recurring scuba diving beyond 60 feet.

The camera is completely loose and won’t stay still as the locking mechanism is flawed. Very upset that £30 can’t secure the camera. Will be returning.

If you want to use a GoPro on a kayak or canoe, this is your stick. It’s for selfie, for tripod or an emergency float is you accidentally drop your GoPro in the water. In fact, don’t go on the water without one of these. The orange colour helps to locate it. A slick product. Just be careful of the telescoping handle it could break. Will see how it holds up to extended use, too
