The first night it did not turn on, because of string lights around the porch. So I ty-rapped a black plastic Folgers coffee can lid to the AC cord, to hang in front of the photosensor. Then it worked great: on at dusk, off at dawn.

I live in an apartment complex that is really dark outback so I hung some extra outdoor Christmas lights. I had around my patio and schedule the timer to come on in dusk and off at dawn. It works wonderfully and has other settings. I highly recommend.

I have landscape lights that I use not only for decor but also for security. This unit gives me the option to set a specified run time or as I prefer, automatically dusk to dawn. It is compact and so far very accurate. Set up was as simple as plugging it in and turning a dial. I would have preferred a longer power cord but the one attached was acceptable.

Bought this turn my porch lights on and off. So far working really well. The only issue I've had is that the timer needs to be placed under my porch chair out of direct light or it will not turn on at night because I have it on the auto on\off mode. Once I moved it under the chair I guess it registers dark better and the lights came on and so far come on every night and go off during the morning. Happy with purchase.

EDIT!!!! As my original review stated I thought that the photocell was not working but, it turns out I'm a victim of modern day instant gratification. If you turn on the photocell setting or the timed setting the lights will shut off which is what made me think the photocell was not working. If only I had waited another 20-30 seconds I would have seen the lights turn right back on! We've been using this for less than a week but, it's been so good so far now that I've been patient and let the item do it's job. I've used the 4H and 6H timers so I havn't seen the lights turn off but, they havn't been on when I've woken up so it works for me. lol I'm sorry for the original bad review! The customer service was great as a replacement was immediately sent out once my review was seen! I'm going to send it back unopened since there's no need to ruin a perfectly find product! I just received this unit in the mail. I pkugged it into the wall and it works great on the always on/off settings but the photocell option doesnt work. It's dark out but I do live in a small city so there is ambient light. I covered the photcell with my finger to see if it would turn on and it did not. It is now being used as an on/off switch so i dont have to unplug the two cables each time. I think i'll initiate a refund/exchange if the company doesn't reach out to me first..

Somebody decided to place the wall mounting hole in the only spot on the entire timer body where it cannot be accessed. Updated my review from 1 star to 4 stars. The dusk to dawn sensor works good, and having 2 outlets is a plus. The product seems to be well built for the job, and the selector knob positions clearly labeled and easy to understand.

I was initially worried about this being analog and not digital, as I’ve seen the complicated dial timers, and have no idea how to use those. A digital screen seems to make more sense to me. But this was cheaper and had good reviews, and I am so glad I got it. It was dead simple to set up, and made me realize a digital one would’ve probably taken me an hour to figure out! I’ve been using this for a month now with my Christmas lights (yes I turn them on Nov 1!), it turns on at dusk, and stays on for the correct amount of hours. Zero complaints.
