The hanger will accept relatively thick plastic hangers as well as wire ones. And the hook rotates downward on the crossbar to allow for compact storage. It is well made, sturdy enough to carry substantial weight, and so far quite durable. For transporting a large number of hangers a different product should be purchased.

**Q: Do I need to open the headrest to install this ?**
A: Jane,This item was not designed to go around headrest posts, this item is designed to use with your garment hooks in your car giving you more garment hanging space.

**Q: My car drop down garment hook is very small. How wide is the garment hook?**
A: The garment hook is 1 3/8 inches at the narrowest location. We have a Ram 1500 and use the hooks at the top of the rear window. If I leave the seat down clothes hang much better. If I put it up the clothes hang awkwardly. I can usually get 8-10 clothes hangers on mine. I like it well enough I am planning to order another one for the other side (too many clothes on our last trip for one of these!).

**Q: Does this open so i can loop a bag on it or something without a hook?**
A: No... it does not "open"... you probably could "loop a bag over the existing hook...

**Q: Can the hook part fit over my cars handle bars? I have no garment hook and was looking at buying this as a substitute**
A: We use these every time we travel by car. They fit over the car handle bars and usually hang behind the driver.

This hanger works great. It holds up my clothes. It is sturdy and time will tell if it is durable. It looks like it will last a while. It just hangs on the hook as I don’t have grab handles for a hanging rod. But this is a good substitute.
