The paper quality is nice and crisp. I've been using colored pencil, and when I press down on the paper to make darker shades the paper does not sink in, which I like. It is worth the price. This probably would not be a good book for little kids, but young teenagers or preteens would be ok, and it would help any young artist to practice coloring techniques like combinations, toning and shading and how to work with details. I usually do after coloring because my daughter's hangs them up. Until then I slip a piece of paper or cardboard between pages just in case it the markers or pens bleed through. I thought one of the others was my favorite but after receiving this one I don't think I like one more than the other. The faces are so beautifully drawn I have a difficult time deciding which page to color. I love that the pages are perforated because I prefer to color the pages on a clipboard that way if anything bleeds through it doesn't get on other pages and its easier to color. The paper is a bright white, colored pencils go on smoothly. I use BIC permanent markers and sharpies, they both bleed through.
