It is not wood. **Q: Is the frame chrome or a brushed nickel?** A: It's brushed nickel. My mirror was packaged nicely for shipping but it still had some scratches on the finish. **Q: Can this mirror hang Horizontal** A: Yes. This is how I have it hung **Q: Do you think this material the frame is made out of could be easily painted?** A: Not easily but could be done. Because the finish is glossy I would recommend a special primer such as Zinsser's Bullseye 123, which adheres to glossy surfaces. Then add coats of your desired color. Painting around the beaded parts also would be tricky, as someone else mentioned. The one other issue is that due to the way the mirror is mounted inside the white frame, if the frame is painted a much darker color you may still see the reflection of the white frame around the interior frame edges. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great mirror. It is hard to find a 42 x30 mirror in the stores. Love the bevel - makes the mirror look upscale in comparison to other mirrors you can get at the same price (IMHO framed mirrors without the bevel often look cheap).I had read several comments complaining about the packaging of the product, but bought it anyway because Amazon customer service handles these types of issues very well. I am glad I gave it a shot. The mirror arrived in spotless condition. It was packaged snugly in a box just slightly bigger than it, with heavy-duty styrofoam padding on front, back and all sides. It did have any wiggle room in the box. Like I said, it shipped well and the packaging certainly seemed appropriate. Perhaps they have changed the packaging since other people have complained.
