The story of Ladurée started in 1862 when Louis Ernest Ladurée opened a bakery in the heart of Paris at 16, rue Royale. In 1872, following a fire, the little bakery became a pastry shop and the decoration was then done by Jules Cheret, a famous painter and poster-designer of the time. Jeanne Souchard, Ernest Ladurée's wife, then had the idea of combining the Parisian café with a pastry-shop. She therefore created one of Paris' first tea-rooms. In 1993 Ladurée was bought by Francis and David Holder and became one of the best-known gourmet addresses in Paris, a veritable institution with its famous "macaron" as its emblem. In 1997 Ladurée opened a tea-room/restaurant on the prestigious Champs-Elysées, followed by another in the Printemps department store and on the Left Bank as well as the beginning of their international adventure with branches in London, Geneva, Monaco and Tokyo. In this book Michel Lerouet, the Chef at Ladurée, reveals 100 of the most famous Ladurée recipes, adapted for the general public. From duck foie gras with rose macaroon to vegetable tagliatelles with Ladurée tea and cardamom, as well as the taramasalata éclair with rose petals, the Chef presents us with an entire artist's pallet of appetizers, main courses, fish, meat, salads, omelettes... All with the Ladurée quality and creativity. Review: This is the real deal - worth every penny! - I bought this book on the hopes that they had my single favorite recipe that I've had at Laduree: Vol au vent. I was happy to find that it did. Following their detailed instructions, I made the dish immediately and can verify that it was indeed authentic (tasted exactly like the one I had at their Covent Garden, London location). In my opinion, it was worth every penny for this recipe alone. I haven't tried any others yet, but the ones I've read have excellent tips and tricks and sound simply delectable. The other pleasant surprise was the quality of the book. The image shown here is just the heavy-duty cardboard box that it comes in. The book itself is inside, and the hard cover is wrapped in purple velvet. Furthermore, the pages are heavy-duty and the edges of the pages are silver foiled, with full color pictures of each dish. It is absolutely beautiful and represents the exceptional quality you expect from anything that comes from Laduree. Review: High Quality Book - This book would make a great gift. It has A LOT of recipes (more than I thought it would) and it is gorgeous purple velvet with silver-edged pages. The food photography is great. The recipes are rather complicated, but the flavors are inspirational. I look at it for ideas and create something a little simpler for everyday meals.

Great book for true lovers of French cuisine
This book is not as good as their pastry book, but i love how they take their pastries and turn them into savory dishes. They have a lot of good recipes for brunches if you are planning to through a fancy brunch. The pictures are just as lovely as the other book. The ingredients have a lot of French products that would be hard to find and some that they just want to promote their store (Like laduree breads). If you know what Laduree is all about and have had their food then this book is for you.

LOVE this book
I searched for a Laduree Cookbook for the last few years. Although there apperaed to be one on their site, I was not able to find it for purchase. Then i found this one. This is a Gorgeous cookbook. It is packaged beautifully, the recipes are fantastic and there are pictures which provide guidance on the look of the final product. A cup of coffee, a croissant and this book transports me back to Laduree in Paris The Seller was great - no problems and it arrived in 100% perfect condition.

Pure joy!
This little book is a treat for the senses! SPOILER ALERT: the little lilac book comes packaged in a little box and is wrapped in pale pink tissue. The pages have shiny silver edges—it’s just so pretty! I think I’ll probably cook an appetizer or two, but even if I don’t, this is a welcome edition to my collection, and I’ll smile every time I see it on the shelf.

Beautiful Addition
This is a really lovely collection of recipes that are great to get you started on relatively easy French cuisine. My only concern is the material of the book, looks like if I get anything on it in the kitchen it's not coming off.

Beautiful Book
I bought this book as a gift for a friend this coming Xmas. Someone had sent me the "sweets" companion book and I found it to be so beautiful the way it is packaged and put together. The recipes are also quite nice - very French! I almost hated to use my copy as I might mess it up a bit while cooking! I think it is a great gift idea for a serious baker.

10/10 for styling, MUCH less for content
As many have mentioned, this book is a work of art, absolutely beautiful. The content however, doesn't come close to the appearance. I can't understand who the intended reader is.... Novice cooks will be frustrated as the instructions are very basic (or useless) for the most part. e.g. - "shell the lobster" is meaningless for someone who haven't done it before. Experienced/knowledgeable cooks will learn almost nothing new in terms of technique. Perhaps it's supposed to be displayed as a "wow" item, and impress various guests, rather than actually being used as a cookbook. The recipes themselves are all over the place. Some are very basic, e.g. - putting mayo and smoked salmon on white bread and calling it a club sandwich; others require rare or hard to come by ingredients like their own macaroons, or ready-made eclair shells (an item I'd expect such a book to explain in detail). There are a few interesting pairings in the "Gala Dinner" section, like the duck breast with lichi, but not many like that. If you're looking for an upscale cookbook with solid recipes and fancy food, I'd recommend Claridges: The Cookbook. All in all, I'd skip this book. I've given it 3 starts for very few plating/styling ideas, and a number of interesting recipes, but 2.5 would have been a more accurate score.

Very luxurious, delicious recipes and enjoyable to read
The cookbook comes wrapped in a pretty and sturdy Laduree box, complete with tissue paper. The book itself has a padded velvet cover with gilded page edges and is truly beautiful, as are all the illustrations. It is not for beginners because the directions assume that the cook is acquainted with certain procedures, but if you a reasonably experienced baker, you will enjoy making a lot of the recipes. Some are quite complex but there are many that do not take all that much time and turn out truly impressive. I have tried the Creme Brulee with Orange Flower Water, the Strawberry Mascarpone Tart, the Cherry Clafouti and the Rice Pudding, all of which are easy and delicious. I have also made the Intensely Chocolate Cake which turned out spectacular but took quite a long time to make. This is definitely a special occasion cake. I am looking forward to trying a number of other recipes but not all because some call for ingredients that are not easily available in my area. As mentioned in my title, it is fun to just look through the book and read the recipes.... they remind me so much of Paris. I am happy to have it.

Für Teeliebhaber, Laduree-Fans, Coffee table book-Enthusiasten, Freunde des guten Geschmacks
Hervorragend. Insgesamt 5*.

Gorgous Book and Great Recipes
I am recently back from Paris with my girlfriend and one of the many bakeries and cafes we visited was Ladurée. In my opinion Ladurée is one of the best in Paris and definitely worth a visit if you are a fan of macaroons. They sell this book in the shop but it is written in French but this version is written entirely in English. I am a passionate cook and but a lot of cook books but this one is by far the most attractive one I have bought or even seen. The book comes in a box in typically Ladurée design and when you open the box you find the cover and back is made of padded material. The edges of the book is also that gold way you see on lots of old or expensive books. Inside the book contains the recipes for pretty much most of the items on the Ladurée menu. I have not conducted an identical comparison but we recognised most of the cakes and pastries from the shop counter and the book even has the recipe for the hot chocolate that we had for breakfast. Each recipe has a beautiful accompanying picture but the steps are a bit less descriptive than the likes you will find in the mainstream celebrity chef books but for someone that has a solid grounding in cooking they should suffice. Due to its feminine looks the book will make an excellent present for your girlfriend/wife/mum etc. but similarly it has not stopped me getting stuck into the recipes. Great book, 5 stars

Regalo seguro
La presentación es brutal. Un regalo muy acertado para una repostera con muchas ganas. No soy el que sabe del tema pero diría que hay recetas y ganas de experimentar para rato.
