Do you have to melt the chocolate to pour I. Or can you just put the chocolate chips in and let them melt?

Melt the chocolate first. You may add vegetable oil to get it thin enough to flow perfectly. Add a little oil at a time, too much will cause gaps in the fountain.

What kind of chocolate do i use, where do i buy it, and how much do i put in?

I used about 2 bags of regular chocolate chips (from any grocery store) and a large bag chocolate made for chocolate fountains (Michael’s Craft Store). The key point is whatever chocolate you use, make sure to melt it before hand in the microwave and thin it with a little bit of Crisco. Turn the heat on on the machine and let it heat up before adding the still warm, melted chocolate to the basin at the bottom. This will keep it running smoother through the machine.

Can it be used outside

It needs a power source so as long as you have an outlet outside it can be used outdoors.
