Great Kit for the Price
I bought this kit a while ago and I have honestly spent so much time just learning and experimenting with it. It is packed with components, so there isn't just one way to use it, you can go in so many different directions depending on what you want to build. It has been amazing for my personal projects and there’s lots of support. The SunFounder website has A LOT of great resources, tutorials, and documentation that made getting started really easy. If you are looking to get into Raspberry Pi or just want a massive kit to tinker with, I would 100% recommend this.

Great kit for starting out
This kit is perfect for a beginner, really comes with all you need to learn core programming/engineering. All parts and modules seem to work correctly (havent used every single one yet but so far servos, motors, and the bigger modules, like the breadboard power module, work perfectly. The video courses are also very detailed and easy to follow, and give you "homework" to figure things out on your own after the video lesson. Will continue to buy from sunfounder for parts and projects 🤙🤙

This is REALLY good value.
This is REALLY good value. Lidar, LEDs, bread board, videos that actually work on YT, 50+ devices. I am still working through it. A fantastic PCB primer.

Great kit
This was a great kit for my son to learn electronics and programming. Very high quality components and parts, easy to use, and the instructions are very good. Good. It does help if you have a little bit of starting knowledge to understand the instructions, but they'll get you there.

This is a very nice kit, but....
Hmm. This is a nice kit for learning....if you have a little bit of electronics experience already. I can't imagine if someone is a complete newbie to programming or electronics. I'm a professional programmer of 40 years, with about 4 years in an AIX (Linux, IBM style). Some of the installation instructions for libraries even confounded me. Some examples will not work if you do not install libraries; some libraries are "external source, your must...." yadda yadda, with no real explanation about the yadda's. Good luck to the newbie. Some of the steps for the wire hookups are minimalist, at best. Some of these, if hooked up badly, *can harm the Rasp-Pi." Can't harm you, being only 5V, but at about $100 for the Pi....not what I want to sizzle. Enough of the bad stuff?? Sure. This is a nice kit that covers a lot of ground, and shows how the circuits work and gives some very good experience learning. All instructions are online (which some people apparently do not like) and it is thorough for various programming languages. (I just wish more detail were given for setting up what is not simple.) It would a nice addition (SunFounder, if you're listening!) to have extended exercises for the builder to try. For instance, your 7 segment LED has a count up. 1) make a prog to count down; 2) make a prog to act like a clock--ie go to 59 seconds and roll over. Stuff like that.

Not really for the beginner.
I actually got two kits - this SunFounder kit and the FreeNove kit. I was asked to evaluate the kits for a training session on Internet of Things (IoT). I'm not teaching the class, but I have the electronics, coding, and Unix/Linux experience. For the rank beginner, which is someone with no basic electronics training and no coding training (specifically C language and Python), I would recommend a basic electronics course and a course in Python or C language, before doing this kit. If you follow directions exactly, all the experiments/projects will work, but you may not understand how it works. The manual for the course is on a SunFounder webpage. So, this may not work well for a classroom setting. There may be PDF file of the manual, but I could not find it on the webpage. There are sections for Python and C language for RPi models 3 & 4. There are sections for Python on RPi model 5. Each project section displays a schematic diagram for the project as well as a picture showing how to wire the project on the bread board. The text for each section has short descriptions of the circuit logic and describes what certain code stanzas do. The webpage has links to videos that describe some of the electronics used in the projects and some of the coding. I recommend a user watch all the videos. Once the instructor gets passed his laid back lifestyle phase at the beginning of each video, he does provide important information about the electronics and coding. An inventory of supplied parts, showed everything arrived as described. The inventory is shown on a card in the kit box. Don't loose the card as there is nothing on the webpage or a PDF of the inventory. There is a section, on the webpage, that describes some of the components, but it isn't an inventory. If you get the kit, I recommend getting some #20 solid core hookup wire. The shortest jumper wires they provide are four inches long. Using those wires to make a number of connections 1/2 inch to 1 inch apart creates a forest of wiring that is cumbersome at best. I used the #20 wire and a pair of wire stripper/cutters to make short1/2 inch - 1 inch connections that reduced the wire forest and made it easier to trace circuits. I dropped a star because some components in the project texts were mis-labled. The diagram calls for a PNP transistor when they want an NPN transistor. Polarized capacitors were shown in the circuits with the polarization reversed. The resistors, in the kit, are 1/4 watt, with #28 or #30 hookup wires. I found that the breadboard didn't clamp on these wires very well. I resorted to using a pair of needlenose pliers to bend and squeeze the wires to make a thicker wire for the breadboard to clamp. The kit uses Wiringpi for addressing the GPIO pins in C language and GPIOZero for python. Wiringpi has been around for a long time. The original developer has dropped off the project to do other things, but the GitHub community keeps the library up to date. GPIOZero is rapidly becoming the standard for python coding for the GPIO pins. Will I recommend the kit -- with the caveat about rank beginners, yes. The kit will teach you how to use a Raspberry Pi to control different kinds of gadgets.

Amazing Kit
This kit is great. It got me started with a bunch of projects to do with my Raspberry Pi 5. I love how everything fits in the case. The components are all quality feeling and it is very easy to use. There is a bunch of tutorials and guides using this exact kit, so you can learn so much using it. It is very educational, and if you want to get started with a Raspberry Pi, this is the kit for you.

A must for the absolute Raspberry Pi beginners (and some advanced users too).
Very complete set, with all the components working as per spec (careful in handling the camera module though, as it is quite fragile). What is great is that the kit comes with access to SunFounder's website that contains all schematics, links to each component's data sheet, sample wirings along with the associated code in C, Python and Scratch. Even better, there is a YouTube playlist proposed by Paul McWhorter that includes 40+ tutorials helping absolute beginners build up their Raspberry / GPIO skills step by step, relying on the same SunFounder kit. These tutorials help to dig deeper and understand the theory and practice. The attached video is the result of one of Paul's recommended homeworks. Note: the green RAB board is from Makeronics.

All Resistors Missing, Second-handed
I was really excited when the package arrived. But I realised that the kit was already used, with box of the kit opened already, bags inside of the box already opened with parts scattered around(resulting in them being bent). Every single one of the resistors are missing. Overall, really disappointed in the kit.

Faulty/damaged components inside
I am quite disappointed that the breadboard was falling apart; the camera module doesn't work (doesn't get detected by RPi4, whereas another camera works just fine on the same RPi4). Pins of many sensors were bent (not a deal breaker as I could straighten them out; however, worried that they may have been damaged in the process of straightening). Yet to use many of the sensors. Hopefully, they will function well.
