If the source is lithium batteries with a high output rating of 20 amps or more, or a common lead acid battery, you will be OK but only for short periods of time if you only have 2 ah of capacity. "Amp hours" refers to capacity not ability to provide amps. Been using on my kids' Power Wheels for a little over a year (30 amp version) to convert 18V Ryobi tool battery to 12V output. My one complaint, as others have noted, is that this thing doesn't like cold. One review says 7.5V output under a certain temp. I haven't checked that, but I do know that the car won't run at all under a certain temperature, so whatever voltage it is, (the DC motors shouldn't care too much about that, they should just run slower). One star off for that. If you sit there for a few minutes with your hands on the unit, it warms it up enough that it starts putting out enough amps and voltage to get the car going, at which point it will keep itself warm from using it. A little annoying, but it's good enough at this price point for my kids' toys. My youngest spends hours per day running this one in particular and we haven't had it fail yet. The other one from a different brand never had the cold issue, but that one failed today and it got significantly less run time, so I think that's a worse tradeoff. Buying another one of these to replace the failed one. I wouldn't rely on it for some critical outdoor tool though.
