It is not portable which is okay with me since I don't plan on moving it around. Although it is light, it is sturdy and well made. I primarily selected this one due to the lyric screen and the ability to play CD's. The CD's that are included with the machine are more geared towards families and small children and not to my taste. It also has a slot to hold your mobile phone. It paired easily and quickly to Bluetooth and is easy to operate. The user guide that was included was complete and easy to understand. The sound quality is adequate but microphones that were included did not offer enough power to really hear you singing over the music. I purchased another mic and it works great. I have played several CD's without any issues. It offers several different options play and record your music. I am satisfied with my purchase although it was a little expensive.
