I'm 5'4", 225-230 lbs, and I wear an 18 in misses and 16W in plus. Ordered this in a 3X and I'm glad I selected this size. Fits great.....super soft and comfortable. Very roomy in the mid-section and the design is forgiving if you carry your weight there. I could wear this without shapewear, but I don't because the crotch area isn't "high and tight" and chub rub would be an issue. That said, the crotch hangs low, but not to the extent that it looks bad/weird. Can be dressed up or worn casually. Happy with it and I'd purchase again.
