At a slow speed, red lights show up; if you go faster, blue lights appear as well. This is an actual incentive for my kid to push his limits and go faster, so he can get those blue lights! We've only had it a short time, but my first impression is that it's very good quality and great features. Exactly what we were hoping for! Worth the extra couple of bucks over the budget options.
