Do the velcro straps just go around the outer rail and back up under the pocket? Not under the entire rack?** A: That is correct. They are only long enough to wrap around the outer rail then up under the outer pocket. This takes a bit of finesse, but once you have it centered on the rack, it won't move. I really like my bag; it holds a ton of stuff. The only drawback is that it is not easy on, easy off. **Q: Let me ask this again as i'm a little uncertain, where is this bag made? one person says vietnam the other says the usa** A: The Mesa is made in Vietnam. **Q: how strong are the Zippers on this bag.?** A: The zippers are very strong and zip smoothly. My wife and I have had the bag on our bikes for about 1 year riding over 1500 miles. These are excellent bags. **Q: Has anyone used this bag for overnight bike trips? Is it large enough?** A: The interior dimensions of the main compartment are 11"x 5"x 6". The side pockets are each 11"x 5"x 2". I would not consider it to be big enough for an overnight trip by itself. There was no mention of those issues with this bag. And with good reason. The four point mounting system is extremely sturdy with velcro closure on both the inside and the outside of the straps. They are locked in solid when mounted. The Bushwhacker Mesa also uses a much stiffer inner foam framework than i was expecting so the bag holds its shape regardless of whether it's empty or packed full. I gave the Mesa 5 stars but I would've given it 10 as it's a wonderful piece of equipment. There may be others which will hold more but this holds as much as I want on my seatpost mounted rack; any more would be overload, imo. The main compartment is 12" x 6" x 6" and each side pocket is 11" x 6" x 2" with a 11" x 4" pocket on top for papers and such, giving me enough capacity to carry all I want on the rear rack. If I need to carry more, I hook up my B.O.B. trailer anyway. There are nice reflective stripes on the sides and rear of the bag along with a tail light loop. Even the embroidered logo on the back is classy.
