Solar Power

No skips! Loved this album for years now, bought a record player earlier this year and I’m happy to have this vinyl to add to my collection!

The package does not contain a cd, ostensibly for environmental reasons, but presumably also because a lot of people don’t use cd’s anymore. One can download high quality and regular wav files. I was able to play the files on my laptop, and also put them on a flash drive and play them in my car. A book with song lyrics is also provided. Enough was provided. I have spent some time listening to the music and I enjoy it. The album has a different style and tone than Lorde’s other albums, but her influence is still there. It’s too bad it takes Lorde four years to come out with new albums.

I will ride or die for this album no matter what

Like sunbathing on a mellow summer afternoon, the rosy-flesh color of the sun through your closed eyelids, while your mind drifts away on mildly psychedelic daydreams. On the other hand, it sounds almost like when you've had too much time in the sun... you're tired, sunburned, a little burned out, hazy, introspective. Could have fit somewhere in something from California in the 1960s but it also feels completely contemporary. Really wonderful.

What a rip off! There is no cd because the artist felt a cd would land in a land fill. You pay $20 for a poster, some cards and the words to the invisible CD. I can't tell you how disappointrd I am.

Lorde showed us what she’s capable of with PH and melodrama and although the sonic landscape changed, the music reigns true to who Ella is and that is one of this generations greatest lyricists. The early twenties are a tumultuous and thought provoking era and she sums all the terror of existing in this album (see: stoned at the nail salon and fallen fruit). It’s a masterpiece to say the least.

I am once again blown away by Lorde's artistic decisions and the production of her music. The discless music box is nicely crafted and the photos are beautifully printed. I really appreciate the quality of the music box and I'm enjoying the album! Shipping was also very fast and overall I support the choice to be more environmentally conscious with the creation of this discless option!

Un grand et bel album qui rappelle (toutes proportions gardées) les groupes comme America ou Crosby, Still, Nash & Young avec de sublimes harmonies vocales et un son très doux et acoustique !

I absolutely love the record. A total work of art.

Das Album gefällt mir sehr gut. Es hat zwar etwas gedauert mich dran zu gewöhnen. Es ist etwas anders als Pure heroine und melodrama. Aber nach paar mal hören konnte ich mich voll und ganz auf das neue Album einlassen. Und mittlerweile ist es für mich DAS Sommer Album. Lorde überzeugt wieder mit stimme und tiefgründigen Texten. Und ich muss sagen dass ich es sehr gut finde dass Lorde sich diesmal für keine cd sondern nur Vinyl und Musikbox entschieden hat, Der Umwelt zur Liebe. Die ganzen wütenden Rezensionen kann ich nicht wirklich nachvollziehen.. es steht ja wortwörtlich discless music box da. Und sowieso hat heute kaum einer noch ein cd recorder. Fazit das Album ist einen ruhiges akustisches Sommer Album mit sehr schönen und tiefgründigen Song Texten. Nur was ich etwas schade finde dass in meiner music box keine download Karte war um das Album runterzuladen.

Lorde l'ho conosciuta con "pure eroine" e mi era piaciuta. Ora con questo solar power la sto apprezzando forse ancor di più tant'è che ne ho voluto acquistare il vinile. Purtroppo la prima copia aveva due terribili problemi sul primo brano del lato B. Fortunatamente con amazon ho potuto fare la sostituzione e la seconda copia arrivata suona in modo impeccabile. Disco perfettamente piatto e pulito. Solo in un punto si sente un leggero brusio. Non so se è una scelta artistica o è il mio impianto molto rivelatore.
