The best games always stand the test of time
I was pretty stoked when I found out that Bio Shock was getting the remaster treatment with all three games in one tidy package. At a $60 price point (less if you're a prime member) that amounts to $20 a game which is excellent for a trio of fantastic games. (Much like the recent Resident Evil remasters and Uncharted collection) At the time of this review I have completed Bioshock 1 and 2 and have just begun to play Infinite. (I have played all three previously last gen). All I can say so far is...wow. These games are just superb. The first Bioshock is perhaps one of the most iconic video games of all time and let me tell you-there is nothing quite as satisfying in all of video game history as taking out a Big Daddy. Seriously. Nothing else like it. For me personally-Bioshock 1 is still the most memorable of the trio. Its larger than life characters like Andrew Ryan, Atlas, Dr. Suchong, Sander Cohen, Frank Fontaine, etc.-really immersed you into a fully fleshed out under the sea utopian world gone wrong complete with its own pseudo civil war. Plasmids, Gene Tonics and a wide variety of weapons to experiment with just put the icing on the cake. Plus the Art Deco style, political underpinnings and voice recorded messages spirited you away to a place you had never seen before. Rapture was a place filled in equal measure with wonder and danger at every turn. As for Bioshock 2, many consider it to be almost a carbon copy of the original. There are indeed a lot of similarities, but it's still an outstanding game. The creators must've really gotten a lot of good feedback from the kill Big Daddy/save or harvest Little Sister dynamic because they seemed to hedge all their bets on this dynamic for Bioshock 2. Sure, once again it's fun to end a Big Daddy, but this time there are more "steps" involved with the Little Sisters if you want to max the amount of Adam you receive. While this is fun at first, after the eleventh time of A) killing Big Daddy, B) tracking down and draining Adam from a dead body while twenty splicers attack you, C) tracking down and draining Adam from a second dead body while another twenty splicers attack you then D) finally escorting little Sister to her hide out then E) Finding another Big Daddy/Little Sister and repeating the whole process over again usually twice more each level-it does get sort of repetitive and tiresome. And yes, Killing Big Sisters is very satisfying too, but near the end of the game the whole things gets to be a sort of grind. And quite frankly-if you take all of this away, the game itself doesn't hold up as well story-wise or objective-wise as Bioshock 1. All of the Big Daddy/Little Sister/Big Sister stuff is really what the game is all about in the end. Everything else is pretty forgettable. Still a great game though. As for Infinite, it's a little less action oriented than the other two though even more story driven. All I can say so far with this remaster since I just started Infinite, is that the moment Booker Dewitt ascends to the sky and Columbia comes into view is nothing short of breath taking. Infinite is so gorgeous that I found myself just stopping by certain areas, leaning up against a railing and watching air ships go by or listening to the barbershop quartet sing. When is the last time in a video game you can say that you stopped to smell the roses? It's that beautiful. All in all-despite a few minor glitches (voice recorders getting hung up for a few seconds on certain syllables in Bioshock 1, slow down in Bioshock Infinite) this is a fantastic collection of three outstanding video games at a really great price. If you're sitting the fence-you really can't pass this up. Rapture and Columbia are two places well worth a revisit. These games still impress me more than most of the current gen stuff. For me, my PS4 for the most part has become a remaster machine. I have not been terribly impressed by any of the brand new game on the system outside of Uncharted 4. (Killzone, Infamous Second Son and several others were all duds in my book) My favorite games on the system are all remasters including DMC, The Uncharted Collection, Tomb Raider, The Last of Us and Resident Evil 1, 4 & 5 and now the Bioshock collection. Not sure what that says about Sony's original games, but I am sure having fun with all the remasters. Dead Space next please.

Beat em all back in the day and so glad I have them again in 1 collection.
One of the greatest video game collections to ever come out!!! The 1st Bioshock is one of my favorite games of all time. The series of 3 is one of my favorite gaming series of all time. Love the worlds created in these games. The DLC, the lore of fhe games is just amazing. Have been waiting and waiting for a new Bioshock to come out and I'll continue to hold out hope. I know JUDAS is coming out AT SOME POINT IVE HAD IT WISHLISTED ON PS5 LIKE 2 YEARS, and that's made by the developers of Bioshock 1 and Bioshock:Infinite (part 3) and I saw something a few weeks ago that a Bioshock 4 is coming out and its an ice world or frozen world of some sort. Picture looked amazing but I hope it's real. Have been waiting for tbe $$ to come down on PS5 and I missed a really good sale but M happier I got the physical edition of the collection that comes with all the DLC for the games and some other extras. So psyched to revisit the worlds of RAPTURE & COLUMBIA!!!

This excellent trilogy is timeless
When Steam came to Linux, I decided to see if I could find any good games. I discovered Bioshock Infinite, and it was the first 3D game I had played since 2005 or so. The graphics blew me away, and this effect was much larger than the improvement in technology alone. The world was vast, and it was extremely detailed, and artistically gorgeous. So here I am finally playing Bioshock. The first two games weren't available for Linux, so I never played them until now. My wife moved out, and it turns out I really hate dating, so I bought a huge TV and a PS4 Pro, and I am checking out some of the stuff I missed over the years of being a dutiful wage slave. Bioshock may be quite old, but it does not disappoint! The aesthetics are very different, but no less thoroughly realized. I love these games, because the world is huge, the graphics are gorgeous, there are hidden goodies and tricky little puzzles stuck everywhere, and the stories are very creative and compelling. Best of all, I'm a 46 year old who stopped gaming when I got tired of getting slaughtered by 12 year old kids, and I find the challenge level of these games just right. I have to work at it, but it's achievable, even for a boring old pot bellied guy who only lasts for 43 nanoseconds in any Call of Duty game. I am assuming I will be able to beat the games with a minimum of that hacking mini game nonsense. That is the only flaw, from my perspective. The mini game isn't fun, and it's ridiculously hard, even though I'm only in the third world or so. I no longer have a pre-teen living at home to solve puzzles like that for me, so the game might end up not getting solved. Even so, I made it through Infinite, so I'm going to get something out of this purchase either way. This excellent trilogy is the kind of thing that makes it hard not to be disappointed by everything else.

Bioshock Series is King
Absolute work of art. The Bioshock series is one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. From the story line to the characters, to the gameplay, this game hits all the boxes. Love it. Truly hope that the developers give us something new in 2026!

What. A. Masterpiece.
Ok, so this review is ONLY for Bioshock right now as I will come back after I beat 2 & Infinite. This game is an absolute masterpiece of gaming. Literal perfection. Let me do my best to explain: The story: (no big spoilers don't worry) you take control of Jack who has ended up in this strange, underwater city after a plane crash. You then are led along your path by a man called Atlas as you discover how the once proud city of Rapture was founded by Andrew Ryan as an escape from govt & religion. It now lies basically in ruins after a civil war. I mean, we're already off to an insanely interesting premise. The game itself is NOT linear, you can go back to any section you want up until the final part of the game. The story itself encourages players to veer off the path to explore & discover more. You mainly learn about rapture through the story itself & audio logs you pick up which are handled just beautifully. Even if you choose to not go off the path, the game is designed so that even someone who rushed through will know exactly what's going on and will not be confused on the plot. And the twist!? MY GOD!!! One of the best twists in gaming history. The combat: IVE NEVER HAD SO MUCH FUN PLAYING A GAMES COMBAT!! You have 8 different weapons in your right hand you can upgrade multiple times and as many if not more plasmid (basically magic of you will) powers on your left hand. One of which electricity which you can use to shock multiple enemies if they're all standing in water, or use incinerate if they're standing on oil. You're encouraged to use the environment to kill enemies and its just so much fun!!! It never EVER gets boring and you're constantly presented with fresh situations. I won't spoil the song, but there's a certain combat section about midway through while you're doing Sander Cohens tasks that just might be my absolute favorite 3-5 minutes of combat in any game of all time. I can not recommend this collection enough. Im so excited to jump into Bioshock 2 and I'll be back to add to my review!

Definitely Worth It
Bioshock: The Collection on PS4 is a lot of fun. It comes on two discs and includes all three games, which makes it a great value for the price. The first-person shooter gameplay is solid, with immersive worlds, interesting characters, and a story that keeps you engaged throughout. Even if you have played the original games before, having them all together in one collection is convenient and enjoyable. The graphics are updated and the controls feel smooth, making it a satisfying experience for both new players and longtime fans. Overall, it is definitely worth picking up if you enjoy first-person shooters with strong narratives and memorable settings.

A remastered classic!
LOVE this trilogy. I've played it through to +95% completion 3 times now, can't recommend it highly enough! ESPECIALLY when you consider when these games were first developed - they don't make 'em like this anymore.
