Does the frame scratch the paint or is there a foam protector (or something similar) to prevent scratching?

There is no protection from scratching the paint on your vehicle. My car has thick threaded nylon bushings to mount the top of the license plate to, and rubber bumpers at the bottom to keep the plates and frames away from the painted surface. In the past I have purchased those adhesive rubber pads that you put on the bottom of lamps or whatever to keep from scratching your furniture or counter tops. stick them to the back of the plates or on your car. Hope this helps.

Will water eventually dull this frame? Chrome?

I imagine road debris, salt and age might dull the finish.You can keep it washed and waxed- as you do with your vehicle, that should protect it.

will it fit a 2018 Subaru forester?

It's a standard license plate cover. License plates are the same size, regardless of car make or year, so yes it will fit.

What kind of screwdriver do you need to take plate of

The plates come with nice small screwdriver that will work for these plates...now your old screws may need another screw driver and from my experience most plate screws are designed to accept either head screwdriver.

Looks nice but it's kind of flimsy.

I decided to get a license plate holder because when I drove through a very windy area with side winds, my front license plate was affected by the wind and flexing and snacking my front bumper. Stupid Toyota design as the only have two screw holes to mount the plate. I thought a license plate holder would mitigate that, but after handling this particular one, I doubt it will much stiffer than the license plate alone. Other than that it does look nice. Like others have written, it only has holes at the too. That is a negative for some people, but it does not make a difference on my car. Toyota in their infinite wisdom decided to have only 2 mounting points.

Excelente producto

Es la segunda ocasión que compró este producto y la verdad es muy bueno. Aunque su buscas algo más económico, definitivo lo puedes encontrar. Sin embargo, este producto es duradero, no se oxida, mantiene su brillo, trae tornillos según tipo de instalación, y aunque los tapones son de plástico para mi sorpresa no se despintan y quedan con muy buena presión.
