Robarb 71205 Super Blue Swimming Pool Clarifier

I have a 15,000 gallon inground pool that’s sanitized with an ozone ionizer instead of chlorine. My pool turned cloudy 4 weeks ago, and I went to several pool stores during this time, having the water measured and spending 100s of dollars in chemicals. The water balance was okay, but the pool stayed cloudy. Most pool stores in my area unfortunately don’t know how to take care of a pool with ionizer systems. They know how to treat chlorine pools and that’s about it. When their methods and chemicals didn’t make my pool clear again, I did some intensive research and this way came upon the Robarb Super Blue Clarifier. After reading lots of reviews I thought it’s worth a try, and I bought the product. After cleaning my filter cartridge well and measuring my water, making sure it was balanced, I added 1oz per 2.500 gallons to the pool and had the pump run one full day and full night. That was Thursday, and when I got up Friday, the pool looked already much better. I was able to see the bottom drain in the deep end again, but it was not quite clear yet. I waited till late Friday afternoon, but even so the clearness had really improved, the pool wasn’t “sparkling” yet. I went and added more product, this time 1oz per 5,000 gallons, and let the pump run through over night again. When I got up Saturday morning, my pool was in perfect condition again. The water looked silky and sparkled. It was so clear, I could see the smallest sand corns on it’s floor. I am absolutely amazed by this clarifier. It saved me a lot of money, because before I found it, I had resolved I would have to completely drain my pool and add fresh water. As you can see on the pictures (forgot to make “before” pictures, but it really looked bad) my pool is sparkly and clear again. I will definitely add this product to my regular pool maintenance now, and add some of it to my pool once a week, as recommended. This clarifier is a truly a miracle worker if used as recommended.

After a few more doses and proper vacuuming, my pool is now crystal clear, and it looks even better than when I first filled it. Tip: If your pool is dealing with an algae bloom, make sure to first shock the pool to kill the algae before using the clarifier. It works best on particulate matter and can't effectively clear up algae on its own. Once the algae is dead, the clarifier can do wonders in bringing back the sparkle to your pool. In conclusion, I highly recommend the Super Blue Swimming Pool Clarifier to anyone struggling with a cloudy pool. It's easy to use, effective, and worth every penny for the peace of mind and enjoyment of a beautifully clear pool. Just follow the instructions, and you'll be amazed at how well it works!

As many other reviews, we also had some sort of 'green clouds' problem going on. It seemed to have started with massive abundance of pollen this spring. We had good chemical balance but the water was cloudy. There was a green film all over everything that when brushed or vacuumed would simply plume out and dissipate...then go through the filter and come back out. A little bit was caught but it was a viscous cycle. We spent entire weekends trying to get it right. Even attaching regular socks (the kind that go on your feet) to the water returns. Then vacuumed, cleaned the skimmer sock, filter, and socks, waited a couple hours and did it all over again; up to three times per day. All the while, checking chemical balance, and using SeaKlear Clarifier too. By Sunday it would seem we made good progress, though not perfect. But by Wednesday, the the film was back and the water taking getting greener. We assumed this was all dead algae which had adhered to pollen particles and simply too fine to be caught though the filter and socks were green, the water never seemed to go back to 'normal'. Then in the last week, we did two things. Invested in a automatic vacuum, so we wouldn't be standing out there for a couple hours at a time vacuuming the pool. The second thing was find a different clarifier because clearly what we were using wasn't working. After reading reviews, we settled on the Super Blue. We received the Super Blue and vacuum the same day. Cleaned the filter, put in 1.5x the suggested amount, hooking up the vacuum and let it go for 24 hours. Even by the next morning, the water was drastically better. I mean, drastically! Our pool no longer looks like nasty dark green pea soup! Now, even five days later, the water still looks great whereas before, with the SeaKlea Clarifier, it would have started to cloud again. The vacuum helps I'm sure, however, even vacuuming three times per day with the SeaKlear never got made the water crystalline like the Super Blue has done.

I read through the reviews of people who were saying it doesnt work. Listen, if your pool chemistry is really off (Algae issues, CH issues) this product is not going to work for you. Also. If you don't have a decent test kit (I'm talking about you pool owners who use those stupid sticks that give you general readings) how are you really going to know your water chemistry? So before I get into the review. Here is my suggestion. Get a good test kit like a Taylor K-2006 ($55 on Amazon). i don't get it. People have pools, spend crap-tons of money on chemicals (and you probably also get hosed by buying stuff from your local pool store) and you don't have a good test kit. Secondly. Educate yourself. Stop relying on pool stores and their employees at worst they know very little and are just goign to push a product, at best, they know a lot, and are still going to push expensive products and "treatment programs" Lots of resources on the net. OK ONTO THE REVIEW! What it does is it flocculates any particles that are not getting caught by the filter and globs them together so that they drop to the bottom and then get vacuumed up. So for my personal experience with it. My pool has been battling an Algae issue for 3 weeks. Above ground 14,700 gallons. I received the product yesterday and by 6PM I put it in the pool as instructed (take a bucket of pool water and pour 1 oz per 5K gallons and mix it up as best you can.) Have been running my pump non-stop for 3 weeks and changing the cartridge filter out all the time. keeping at a high shock level (25ppm FC) I woke up this morning at 6pm and I can now see the bottom and its clearer again. Is it super clear like everyone else is reporting? No. But I didnt expect it to. It totally got the dead algae and crap that is in the pool to floc out. Do I expect it to be super clear after all this is gone? YES. Do I think it will do it? Yes. I think it will work. Totally recommend this stuff! Why 4 stars? Because if it actually was super clear this morning. I would have been blown away. I don't give 5 stars out unless its somethign super amazing.

I live in North Florida and between the high temperatures and daily showers in August my pool had started turning greenish in color. I keep my chlorine in check and even shocked it a couple of times but it still had a green tint and the water wasn't dirty but wasn't really super clear either. Fast forward to receiving this product, which I bought based solely on the raving reviews and it did not disappoint. It really is as simple as one, two, three! Follow these steps and you'll be amazed with the results... First pour one ounce for every 5K gallons of water and try to pour it in different areas of the pool, don't worry because the bottle is marked down the side for your convenience and it doesn't have to be exact. This is not one of the algae treatments that will make it worse if you put too much so throw a little more if you want for a better blue tint (within reason / don't go crazy with it). Step two is turn on your pool pump and set a reminder on your phone for 2-3 hours and leave it alone. Step three is turn off the pumps and wait. The next morning you will be blown away at how good your pool looks with very little effort, I can literally see the pattern on a leaf on the deep end of my pool. It's a little more expensive but worth every penny for great results and ease of use! Two weeks later and without any additional treatments my pool still looks great.

I've used a lot of different brands of clarifier every summer since 2016 and this is the first time I've gotten a bottle of this where the ounce measurements are not on the side of the bottle. Completely ridiculous. Especially considering you have to use exactly the right amount of this stuff or it will make your water even more cloudy. So now I have to keep an old empty bottle from another brand that has a measurements on the side just to pour this and and then pour it out of there to use it. Most of those brands are cheaper than this as well so it should have nothing to do with the price here and why that isn't printed on the side of the bottle so you know exactly how much you're using. Otherwise the stuff works. But you're having to guess as to how much to use which is ridiculous. I'd say stick with a different brand wearing the screenshots you can clearly see it shows the measurements on the side of the bottle otherwise you're going to use too little or too much unless you have some magical way of being able to measure this stuff without having to use something out of your kitchen which means you'll never be able to let it touch food again.

Pools get cloudy for many reasons like bacteria growth, chemistry imbalance, high total dissolved solids, and particulate in the water. This only works on particulate, and generally only benefits those of us with sand or cartridge filters. DE filters can filter out the particulate by themselves. Particulate can form for several reasons like a dust storm or what most of us have had, algae that we have otherwise killed. That's the big one. Your effect of using this product on an algae bloom is going to be minimal at best until after you've killed it off. Your green pool kinda goes white after you've killed the algae, and it is too small to be caught in your sand or cartridge filter, so it passes through. What this product does very well is to attract those particles together in larger clumps that are either too big to pass through the filter or heavy enough that they fall to the bottom where they can be vacuumed up and out. Two methods [in both cases, shock your pool till the green is gone and clean your filter first]: 1) This is really the only method Robarb tells you about. It works most of the time when the pool is just a bit hazy, but you can easily still see 6 ft down. Adjust your pH as necessary to between 7.2-7.6. Pour just a few ounces based on directions for your pool volume into the skimmer so it disburses through the circulation system. Otherwise, it is too thick and it can sink to the bottom or just not circulate well. Let the pump run nonstop until it clears up, often by the next day. Backwash your filter. 2) This is for when you've had a big mess and the one that Robarb doesn't tell you about. It's too complicated to put on the back of a bottle. Do back to back shocks and blind sweep the floor and walls to make algae come loose, and do this until there is no more green. After the algae is dead, it turns white and makes the pool very cloudy. Raise your water level to the top of the skimmer because you'll lose water in the last phase of cleanup. Double check your pH to see that it is in the correct range of 7.2-7.6, and adjust as necessary. Dump 1 qt Robarb per 10,000 gallons through the skimmer, and let this circulate for 2 hours. Then turn the pump off and leave it off for between 24-48 hours. Don't even think about turning it on because it will disrupt the entire process. Don't brush the pool, go into the pool, or even think about the pool. Not following this instruction is where 90% of the screwups happen. If you are moving, you're disrupting the process of particles floccing together and settling to the bottom. After your water is clear, you have to get this dead stuff off the bottom. Set your valve or whatever your system allows to allow you to vacuum to waste and set up your vac carefully so as to cause minimal disruption at the bottom of the pool. Only after this has been done can you turn on the pump. Water will be exiting your pool so start quickly. Use continuous side to side motions to vacuum the bottom of your pool. All that dead algae will be taken to waste instead of through your filter. Trying to run it through your filter to save water often doesn't work, and you don't want to have to do this a second time on the same dead algae. I've seen people try and it usually doesn't work the second round. After you've vacuumed the pool, return your filter to the normal operating position and run the pump for 24 hours to get rid of the last of the haze. If it still seems fairly hazy, you can facilitate the cleanup process by adding a couple of ounces to the skimmer as in #1 above. And yes, I consulted on a lot of pool service for about 22 years from small above ground residential pools to commercial and city double Olympic size, and have seen hundreds of people per year go through the process. Do it right and it's 100% effective. If it's not effective, you either misdiagnosed the problem, didn't read all the instructions here or just didn't do it right, even if you're sure you did.
