The award-winning modern classic about a girl who can't hear and her bully, which inspired the acclaimed anime film from Kyoto Animation, returns in a beautiful, two-volume collector's edition. Each extra-large, deluxe hardcover contains about 700 pages of manga on crisp, premium paper, and more than fifty pages of new content. YALSA Great Graphic Novels for Teens Top Ten Selection; Eisner Award Nominee " A Silent Voice isn't just a potential conversation starter about bullying, it also teaches empathy and has the potential to change behavior." -School Library Journal "A very rare chance to see characters with disabilities represented on the page and a harsh light shed on the way that Japanese culture handles this difficult topic." -Comics Bulletin This deluxe, large-sized hardcover includes the first half of the story of A Silent Voice, extending from the second half of Vol. 4 through the end of the series, as well as over fifty pages of content never published in English before, such as the early drafts of the story, behind-the-scenes details from creator Yoshitoki Oima, and color art and concept sketch galleries. Collectors and new readers alike won't want to miss it! Review: A fantastic ending to a heartbreaking but hopeful story - Edition wise, its excellent. The hardcover cold have a better design IMO but it works well and its very thick. The manga is printed in quality paper, and it has some additional content, like interviews and the original short story. And talking about the story, it goes beyond the events of the movie, with many differences. But if you came from watching movie waiting for a more developed romance between Shoya and Shoko, you wont find it, as the story is not a romance. Many characters that are barely developed in the movie here are very well developed, and their relationships are far more complex. I love the movie but I got to say the original manga is the best version of the story, and is hard to ask for a best edition than this one. Very recommended, and if you watched the movie and want more is an absolute must. Review: Great end to a wonderfully tender & nuanced series - “A Silent Voice, Complete Collector’s Edition 2” by Yoshitoki Oima is the first half of manga (roughly 3.5 volumes) that was later animated into the beautiful film by Kyoto Animation. Included as extras are the 2nd original “pilot” short story, a cover art gallery, & several interviews with the creator. As a collector’s edition, it’s beautiful & hardback & filled with extras that truly deepen one’s understanding of the material. The interviews (& l translation notes) all help deepen one’s understanding of the story & easy to miss minor or small moments in the manga. I’ve probably said most of how I feel about this series in the previous review, so I’ll keep this shorter. It’s basically just an amazing story about growing up & learning to understand & communicate with others. It’s just one of the best pieces of writing / sequential art I’ve ever read, & I can’t recommend it enough. I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy the let’s-make-a-movie subplot in the manga, but it actually helped in deepening each of the characters. It also gave a more believable excuse for the friend group getting together so much & bonding (*spoiler warning* especially after Shoko’s s-word attempt & Shoya’s near death experience trying to save her). This is not a light & fluffy series, but the mature themes are handled with care & tenderness. I also really appreciated how the author really tried to convey that no one is a pure villain. This is elaborated even better in the interviews. I also really appreciated that they pointed out how much this isn’t a romance & any romance contained or implied is only in it’s fledgling stages. This is more a story of atonement & moving on & friendship. The friendship is strengthened (from what we glimpse in the film) by each character having a chapter of focus. The character of Satoshi especially gets more development & Kawai & Ueno get more context (& growth) for why they are. Bonus points that we get more glimpses into the characters’ familial lives. I especially like that there’s a whole chapter focusing on a time skip to show that the friend group is still connected. I will definitely re-read this, & I would wholeheartedly encourage almost anyone to give this manga series (or film) a read (or watch). Love it so much. 💜

Amazing way to read this manga, just one problem
If we were talking about the silent voice manga in general, it is an amazing redemption story of a once bully in grade school. But story aside this way of collecting the 7 vol manga is pretty good, with your only other option is the box set. But with the Collector's Edition there are a lot of extras but the pages are maybe the thinnest paper I've ever seen. So for anyone who is thinking of getting or has already got the Collector's Edition, one watch out for shipping because both books came messed up. And two if your not careful you might bend or rip the paper.

Great condition and amazing story
I love this story so much, after watching the movie I just knew I had to collect the manga, and thankfully I waited and the collectors edition came out. The extra coloured illustrations included are so beautiful and in general the quality of the pages is really high and well worth the price, especially since it goes on sale quite often. I’ve always had issues with hardcover books from amazon having damages on the spine, cover and back, and as a collector thats just not acceptable so I try to avoid ordering hardcovers. However thankfully this arrived in almost perfect condition, just the smallest little dent on the bottom of the spine which is barely visible and small little defects are quite common and not a deal breaker. For the story itself I definitely recommend this series, I love how they tackle the issues of bullying in multiple different forms and how impressionable young children can be and the importance of taking accountability. Definitely a recommend, I’m a huge fan of the series and it’s just so beautiful and made me cry watching and reading it

Incredible but arrived damaged
That is it, whatever was holding the pages to cover of book was some type of weak glue that got weak enough that book is at point of breaking. Further the pages were stuck together to degree one ripped upon arrival.
