Diamond of California In-Shell Jumbo California Walnuts 16 oz

I wanted some whole nuts to set inside live traps out in the front yard for the squirrels. The local wildlife has been getting into my flower beds lately, and I needed something simple that would lure them in without attracting a bunch of ants. Opening up the heavy sack, I noticed the shell quality was pretty mixed across the board. A good portion of them were large and cracked apart real easy with a standard nutcracker, but a few felt lightweight and turned out completely dried up inside. The inner meat tasted fine to me when I tried a couple pieces, though it was not the freshest harvest I ever had. My dog kept sniffing around the kitchen counter while I was sorting through them into smaller bowls. They definitely worked well enough for setting the traps near the garden trees, and the local squirrels went after them right away. A few shells were stubborn to break open and required extra muscle. I ended up with a small mess of broken shell fragments scattered all over my workbench, which was a hassle to sweep up before heading back inside.

Excellent flavor. Very good for your diet. Squirrels go crazy for these things. No added salt. Would buy again.

These walnuts are so big and fresh! The quality can’t be beat. Some walnuts arrive looking dirty and old. Not these! I buy them for me and my squirrels! I love the packaging! I buy several bags at a time so they I never run out, but it’s also nice not to have to open a massive bag when I buy as many as I do. They definitely stay fresher for longer. Fantastic product at an unbeatable price.

Our backyard squirrel loves these. She's a picky one and we noticed that when we got the mixed nuts, she doesn't eat the almonds. So now we just buy the Diamond walnuts, pecans and hazelnuts separately and make our own mix and she's happy.

Good walnuts for feeding squirrels but good to crack and eat too !

These Diamond Jumbo California walnuts are always fresh and have a great flavor. My only mild critique is the sizing. Since they are sold by weight, you are still getting the full amount of product, but the individual nuts are on the smaller side. In my opinion, they don't quite live up to the "Jumbo" label on the bag. That said, the outstanding freshness and taste still make them a solid buy.

My Mother uses these to give as treats to the squirrels , lol . She walks the dog and has a bag of peanuts and squirrels follow her for the nuts . Some only want the walnuts and will stand on their back legs moving their paws , like “ please ?” And she tosses those Walnuts . It’s so cute they are right behind her . She tosses peanuts in the grass at night for them in the early morn & 4-5 walnuts for little surprises :) the sizes are all the same and haven’t had any broken ones . The best we have purchased & we buy 6-8 a month .. great quality , squirrels give these 5 stars!!!!!!

I can’t find these locally right now and they are one of my favorite snacks. I have ordered them several times and they are always fresh and of great quality!
