If it is in an air tight container it stays soft. The clay is very cool to play with. The feeling of the clay is so neat. Soft and silky feeling. My twin girls love it. **Q: Can play doh be used with thjs set** A: Thank you for your interest. I am not sure if play-doh would work with this set. You could try air-dry clay if you run out of the clay that comes with the set. **Q: Can you make ice cream in this set?** A: No, there are no ice cream molds. Our clay also came too dried out to form the pieces well. The molds work great with other air dry clay from local craft stores though. **Q: isthe clay just normal clay or is it diffrent** A: It’s different and doesn’t work. When we opened it it had clearly been returned and the clay was all dried out so i decided to try Amazon. I got a couple of them for my daughters birthday and now wish I had read the reviews first. The clay is not moldable, the popper doesn’t even pop the clay out, noting would stick to each other and adding water didn’t help at all!!! This is a huge waste of your money! I am going to be returning all three sets I just bought! She absolutely loved making the mini baked goods. It was very easy to make however it was slightly difficult getting the clay foam out of the packages. The clay dries quickly overnight and are very lightweight and look like delicious gourmet treats complete with a store display case and a two tiered pastry stand. The set also comes with glitter glue and mini toppings. It was also fun to pop out the pieces with the pop mold.
