The Rolls-Royce of Aquarium carbon.
Bigger the tub, better the value. Lets just get that obvious statement out of the way. With that in mind Seachem Carbon can be bought at a good price which is very good to know considering you are buying the best. I pour mine into a Seachem "The Bag" filter media bag. When you pour this carbon from the pot to the bag there is no cloud of carbon dust. That alone brings a smile to my face. Rinsing is quick as the initial cloud of black goes away almost instantly, another smile on my face. The result is crystal clear water with no odor or residue and it works for months. The water purity you get from this carbon is amazing. One big happy smile. Thank you Seachem.

Unsurpassed in quality and longevity with swift results.
Since I've switched from using HOB pre-filled cartridges and/or supplied filter carbons, I've come to rely solely on Matrix Carbon as my preferred brand. It's relatively quick results and long lasting qualities assure that all 4 of my aquarium (20 to 55 gallons) waters remain pristine for at least a month. What truly won me over about this product was how much faster it produced results compared to Marineland's Penguin 100, 150, & 350's pre-loaded Rite-Size cartridges. I used matrix inside of a Marineland Media Refill Cartridge(sold sep.) alongside poly filter fiber to achieve the best results for my particular setups; and within 5-6hrs, it gave me a transparent aquarium (55G). It took Marineland's Rite-Size cartridges at least 2-3 days to achieve almost similar results...no kidding. I'm also using Matrix Carbon in a 29L tank with an Aquaclear 70 HOB coupled with a 100ml bag of Purigen for about a month.....I'm still seeing crystal clear results with no need to replace the carbon. As far as I'm concerned, I'm really not interested in abandoning activated carbon as many hobbyist have fervently suggested...at least not in the near future. Yes, Seachem Matrix Carbon is hands down the MOST SUPERIOR ACTIVATED CARBON ON THE MARKET TODAY!

Others are so full of dust that I need to rinse them over and over which I don't love and might create problems
I have used 6 or 7 different carbons in my TLF reactor. I have a 180 gallon salt-water reef tank with SPS and LPS corals and plenty of fish. I have found many carbons will clump and stop working once that happens. Others are so full of dust that I need to rinse them over and over which I don't love and might create problems. Matrix Cabon is round beads that don't clump easily. They are clean and last a long time. The water flows through them quite nicely. I use GFO in one reactor and Matrix Carbon in the one after that. This keeps my water very clean and clear. My reef tank has been up and running for around 7 years. In case you wonder, the GFO I use is BRS high capacity. Bottom line, how clear is your water with the carbon you use? Try placing your water in a white bucket and compare it to fresh salt water. This is the best test of how well your carbon works. In my opinion, this is the best carbon out there!

Great, make sure you buy the correct media bag
Really polished up my water nicely. The balls are extremely small, so you need a very fine media bag to hold them.

Highest quality carbon
If there is a carbon to recommend, I would highly recommend Seachem matrix carbon. The capacity and longevity of this carbon is unmatched by other brands that I have used before. It is very unique, in a way, that Seachem makes their carbon in a spherical shape to allow it to be hydrodynamic and allow water to easily flow through it while not clumping together. As of this review, I have had the same carbon in use for a little over two months in a 75g tank. It is still absorbing odors and keeping the water crystal clear with regular water changes. I use (3) marineland’s refillable media cartridges and it is able to hold Seachem’s carbon perfectly; given how small each carbon sphere is. I don’t have much to say on any negatives. This product certainly exceeded my expectations. You can not go wrong with this carbon. Well worth the price!

AMAZING stuff!!!! Water passes thought easly!!!
This is the best performing carbon I have ever used!!! The water flows thorough the carbon. Most OTHER carbon, packs tight and only a small part of the water actually passes through the actual carbon and the rest of the water works its way around and over the top of the filter. NOT with this carbon. It is a special shaped pellet that will not clump or bind tightly together so the water has to pass through the carbon which makes the water and carbon share a huge carbon surface space. The carbon seems to last for months, I have had it two months now and I still have not changed it. The water smells fine, so I see no reason to change it out yet.

I absolutely love this stuff
I absolutely love this stuff. I had been using standard cheap basic carbon for years and decided to switch to chemipure and chemipure elite. I found these to work amazing and really made my tank crystal clear. However, these products can get quite expensive, and don't last as long as they advertise. I ended up trying this product in my canister filter and I couldn't even believe how crystal clear they made my tank. I know some people say carbon is useless in an aquarium besides for clearing up smell, but this stuff acts just like purigen and cleans up the tank nicely. There aren't anymore floating particles and the water clarity is amazing. Also, do not be alarmed if this product undergoes an audible chemical reaction when put under water for rinsing. This is normal. I have been using this for about 4 months now and am very happy with the results it has brought. I replace the amount in my canister about every 2 months and everything has been fine. The only reason I even replace it is due to my compulsion to replace carbon every month that has been instilled in me since I first started fish keeping. I would highly recommend this product.
