This is true. What they don't say is that it is a flimsy little piece of elastic that is not anchored anywhere. Consequently, the elastic is loose inside a pocketed hem. This elastic is maybe 1/4 of an inch. I washed the sheets before using them. When I went to put the fitted the sheet on the mattress it was all pulled tight around a circle of where the elastic was. In order to get the sheet onto the mattress I had to stretch the material which caused the elastic to break from where I presume each end was connected. We now have no elastic except in one little corner where it all ended up. The fitted sheet is useless because there is nothing to keep it on the mattress. If I hadn't washed these first and this happened I would have sent them back. The sheets have deep pockets, the feel is soft yet durable. They are the best sheets I have bought in a long time. I'm always trying new brands...but I might stay with this one a while. The color is a rich chocolate brown and the pillow cases are large enough to fit my extra large pillows. They are so soft.
