Very nice quality.
I am very happy with this purchase. The tool works excellent in green wood and the quality of both the tool and the sheath has left me feeling as though I got an amazing bargain. This is a life time tool but I would certainly buy it again if lost.

Simple And Useful
This tool appears well made. I believe the weld goes all the way through the eye, inside ground n buffed to a finished look. It’s stronger. Others have the bit welded just to eye outside handle and seem pitted. Weak. Stick into handle works well, bit cuts, I punch a starter hole and it’s easy. Use w care. The one I received the bit has a few tiny chips out along cutting edge, no big deal (can be sharpened). Used w care (gloves or something covering the bit when holding) the peg maker works, go easy w confidence. One can go w make ur own pegs no problem. This is a fun shop/camp tool, left to ur imagination and skill - no telling - what one can make ! Leather case nicely made. This tool is more expensive than others however well worth the extra $ In closing V Goo !!!

Very handy!
Super sharp! I started this lovely little tool by hand into some green mulberry. It cut so well I probably could have bore the hole without a helper stick, but I wanted to try it all the way out. The hole came clean on the first go. Smacking it on the end of a branch to create the tenon worked as I expected. Took a little effort but I don't find it to be out of line. I can't say I would purposely ever smack it on the auger, just on the top. I saw other reviews that said it broke at the weld. The weld on mine is a good one. Correct penatration was achieved and it should last a very long time. Fitment of the tenon into the mortise was perfect. I was prepared to score the tenon to accept a wedge but found it wasn't needed in this situation. If I had to complain about anything it would be the length. I could see some greater projects requiring a deeper hole/tenon, however that may be extreme. Sheath is a bit cheesy but functional. Overall great purchase! Would love to see a 1/2" model!

Great tool, it appears well made.
I didn’t know about this tool (Settler’s Wrench A.K.A. Scotch Eye Auger) until recently. I saw different uses and some of the things people were making with these tools, so I bought one to check it out. This one by Wayland appears to be well made, solid, sharp, with a strong weld. I put many pictures to help you examine the tool before you buy it. I purchased the 1.5 inch and it is a monster. I wish the auger was a little longer though. A longer auger is useful to create a rocket stoves on a larger diameter piece of wood, if that is your intended use for it. The sheath is ok, it does the job and the tool fits very snug. I built a hammer, and the peg maker is not like you see in YouTube, not easy at all. I tested it out in my garage twice and it was IMPOSSIBLE to get the tool out of the peg. It was seized and I had to go to great lengths to get the piece of wood out of the steel (after I broke the piece of wood). I reached out to Wayland and the response I received was that the peg tool is used to go as deep as 3/4 inch into the peg. This seemed too shallow of a peg and cannot be used for things intended for hard use (stools, ladders , etc.) I won’t be making pegs with the tool in the field. I’ll just use it as a guideline for size and I’ll use my knife to carve the pegs instead. Time will tell on the quality of the tool.

WEYLAND Bushcraft Settlers Tool Survival Hand Auger Wrench
I contacted Weyland prior to purchase for design specifications and received immediate and concise feedback. I purchased both the 1" and 1.5" auger set. The construction of the auger is through the wall of the scotch eye and welded; exactly the design needed for strength and torque. The finish on the tools is most impressive without marring, blemishes, or scarring. The sharpness of the auger and cutting end of scotch eye are also impressive, clean grinds with no burrs. The tools are robust and heavy in weight which lends to easier handling while drilling with auger and batoning scotch eye. Leather sheaths are thick grain, well stitched, and I have no concerns or doubt will hold up well with proper leather maintenance. Completely and extremely satisfied!!

Reliable tool for bushcrafting, camping, and survival.
Is great for creating a makeshift shelter, furniture, as well as a fire stove from a short log. Would like it to be a few inches longer for that purpose, but it doesn’t detract from what it was designed to do. It does exactly as it was advertised. Other competitors do include a fire starter stick with their tool. However, their price point is lower, which usually means lesser quality. The Weyland tool is top quality. It doesn’t come with any extras, but the money spent on this tool is well spent. The real question is, “Can I trust my life to this in purely survival situations?” The answer is Yes. It is now a proud part of my survival/ SHTF bag! While an extra fire starter isn’t needed, it would be nice to have if you need to create a fire stove out of a log for cooking/ boiling water. And a longer shank length of the bore would allow me to make a much deeper hole into a larger log for a longer burn. But as it is, this tool delivers.

The ability to make such a strong joint has endless possibilities. Super solid quality 'last forever' construction. It's rare I add a piece of kit to my classic bushcraft bag but this is now in the top 5 items.

I haven’t had a chance to trial this product but it looks to be of great quality both the tool and the pouch.

The tool itself seems ok. I just received it and noticed that the rivets in the leather case rub against the sharp edge of the tool with each insert and retrieval. Not ideal if you want to keep the edges free of gouges. I will likely not use this carrying case, as it has already done damage to the edges.
