I got this little safe to store just the most important papers (deed to our house, marriage license, title to my car, etc.) The safe is fireproof and waterproof if you keep it flat. I don't have room to keep it flat, but have to put it up on the end, with the handle on the top. The safe closes very tightly, and isn't that easy to open, and it's very, very heavy. The warranty is only good if you store it flat. The inside of the safe is not quite 8 1/2 by 11, so my papers have to bend up on one side a little bit. Wish they had made it about one or two inches wider so that standard sized papers could fit in it flat, but it's not really a big deal. I'm very satisfied with the protection and the size. Our old safe was too heavy for me to carry, and was just too big. This is great.

This one is a winner! This SentrySafe is built like a tank -- excellent design with high quality materials. This model is both fireproof and waterproof. I bought this for an unusual application. As an RC hobbyist, I have multiple lithium batteries I use in my RC airplanes and RC cars. As a fire prevention measure, I store all my lithium batteries in this ultra-rugged mini safe. With the solid construction and air-tight waterproof seal, should a battery ever catch fire, the lack of oxygen inside this safe would starve and extinguish the fire in short order. If you've ever seen a video showing the combustion of a lithium battery and the consequences of the roaring fire they can create, protecting your home from this potential damage just makes sense. I consider using this as a battery safe to be a very reasonable precaution. Frankly, $40 worth of protection is much cheaper than buying a new house!

This is a truly terrible product. I bought this item this past summer and have had a number of problems with it. First, I should say that I did read the bad reviews before purchasing, but since there were so many positive ones, I thought that the problems that were raised were overstated and/or exaggerated. From the start, I did find that this safe was very hard to open. I am a young(ish) and strong Amazon-woman type and was shocked by how much strength it took me to open this; this item is likely to be completely unusable to the elderly and people with disabilities. I probably should have returned it immediately but, since this wasn't something I was planning to get into on a regular basis, I decided that it would probably work fine. About a month later, while trying to retrieve my passport for a flight that night, I couldn't get into it! I was panicked, and it took three people nearly an hour to get it open! Over the last few months I've basically been unable to get into this box when I've tried. At first I found it amusing because, on a few occasions, I was trying to get access to the small sum of cash I keep on hand for "emergencies" and, on those occasions, I was basically looking to use that cash for something that was not an emergency. This week, however, I needed to get into it again to get some documents and, once again, I could not open it! Again, a few other people tried it, though none of us could not get it to open. Fearing that I'd have to pay a locksmith to open it, I decided to see if I could force it open. The object closest to hand was an upholstery tacking tool. I was able to pry the box open with little to no effort. Happily, this meant that I could get to the items I needed, but it also means that the box is officially damaged and can no longer be used. This item is designed in such a way that there is a second lock engagement, separate to the key mechanism, which seems to get jammed so, once you turn the key, you're supposed to push in this button, which is meant to open the box; the button is the part that seems to be failing. Who knows if this box is actually fire proof, luckily I never had to test that part out, but it is clear that it is not easy to get in and out of, and it is certainly not burglar proof. I would steer clear of this one!

Was looking for a safe box that is fireproof and waterproof for my digital media and came across this on Amazon.sg. This is a well made item, tough plastic, robust construction and it is heavy so not so easily carried around unless one is strong. Easily holds up to 20 3.5" slim HDDs/SDDs. For some reason, it sold at an amazingly cheap price on Amazon.sg, about a 1/4 of the price of retailers! The box in which it came in looked a bit old (but unopenend) so it could have been brought in but somehow not sold off hence the low price. Definitely a great buy as far as I am concerned.

Very well made chest. I probably should have ordered a larger size. The inside is much smaller than the outside because of the thickness of the walls. Legal documents, such as wills and power or attorney, have to be folded in half to fit. That was my mistake, not a product flaw. The chest is difficult to open. It comes with directions. The chest needs to be on its side, as shown in the picture. Downward pressure is applied while the key is turned. Because of arthritic hands, I find it painful to open it. I don't know why is has to be that way but it should be considered when purchasing.
