Is this the same part?** A: It looks the same as the 4000 but is for an older discontinued faucet. It maybe a good part. Go for it. The other choice is to replace the faucet. I may buy one to see if it fits mine. **Q: Will this fit to my Moen single handle filtering faucet model F87420?** A: There are 2 cartridges that fit into the Moen single handle. If your cartridge has a large square end this 4000 unit will work. **Q: Can the red 3 o-ring washer be removed? Id like to use the oring from this and put on my old cartridge b/c its leaking (and I cant find replacement)** A: Yes, you can reuse the O-ring for the same model cartridge. The O-ring may be different, if the cartridge model is not the same. If the leak is from the O-ring greasing it will help. I find that the leaks are often in the internal ceramic pieces. They must wear out from usage and mineral deposits. **Q: I have an older moen faucet called the Whitmore. The current cartridge threads in and has the thick square top.
