The entire Anime legend, Berserk, in one collection. Completely remastered, every bloody battle and brutal strike like they've never been seen before. In the castle town of Midland, a new king has come to power through treachery and violence. His demonic agents victimize the citizens, until one night a mysterious warrior comes to destroy them. Known as the Black Swordsman, he has an unrelenting grudge against the king. Before the twilight of Midland, a young mercenary named Guts fights for his fortune on the front lines. There he meets Griffith, who is charismatic, graceful and deadly. Griffith s mercenary company, the Band of the Hawk, is a powerful military force and the talk of elite political circles. Between the strength of Guts anger and Griffith's ambition, the face of midland will never be the same. Review: Great release with some minor issues. - As far as packaging goes, this was the best I have ever received. It's pretty typical to get DVD, cds blu rays ect in deplorable condition. This was not the case. Double bubble wrapped, with all the dvds still attached and not floating around. Both the box and dvds were in flawless condition. On to the dvds themselves. So there is an issue on HD tvs with this release. As some have commented, there appear to be tracking lines at the bottom of the screen. On nearly every transition you get a brief line appearing at the bottom of the image. This can happen 4 or 5 times in just seconds if there are quick cuts. However, on a standard tube TV. The vast majority of these do not appear if at all as this occurs far enough down on the image that it will not appear in frame on a standard tube tv. There are ways to fix the issue if you watch dvds on your PC, as it is possible to adjust the visible frame so it is just small enough to remove it from the frame and that is what I have done. So no harm there. Just be aware the issue is there, but at the same time there are more than a couple ways to fix it if it bothers you. Review: A classic series - This is an old school classic. Great to own, and not quite as over the top in terms of content as I was remembering. The movies that rebooted the series I think had more graphic content, with less story due to time constraints. Still a mature series, so keep that in mind. Plenty of violence, and a surprising amount of political intrigue. And demons eventually. If youโre looking for an exact adaptation of the manga, of course, this series basically bypasses the first arc in favor of getting right to the Golden Age arc. A good series overall, and a shame it never got the second season. To get more story, youโll have to check out the new series (which isnโt as bad as some critics like to say). But even then, it still only covers so much, and then youโll have to turn to the manga. But after watching this, your interest might be piqued enough to do so.

I highly recommend reading the manga also
I highly recommend reading the manga also. Kentaro Miura dark fantasy saga is incredible, and feels like it solidly belongs in that sort of static storytelling. But, the anime is still an excellent experience. I'm giving it full marks, just because I think it's flaws are sort of charming in that tasty 90's way. The soundtrack is splendid, but that's to be expected, because it's Susumu Hirasawa, who I best remember as the guy who's songs were stuck in my head for literal months after the first time I watched Paprika. The artwork can be rough or lazy, and it's pretty clear that they were working on a budget, but they go out of their way to deliver some gorgeousness when the moment really needs it. If you're a fan of dark fantasy, and can handle graphic sexual violence and a lot of heavy content, this story deserves your time. I think the anime is the most accessible way to start, but the full experience is in the manga.

...I don't have a problem with this except its asking price.
Okay the reviews on this is just weird...I'm not sure if the other people reviewing this is new discovering Teen berserk fans or some trolls?? I read 2 reviews trying to warn people that this is a bootleg when NO its not so hopefully I can clear some confusion and theres another 1 I read saying that it doesn't come with ALL the episodes...the ORIGINAL 1997 Berserk anime ONLY had a max of 25 episodes my only guess on why this person would say this is because they might be new to Berserk and watched the later versions meaning the 2016 anime series (which I don't recommend only the original is better in my opinion) Also I read a review about some weird glitch? I didn't incounter any glitches..I mean I did notice time to time on each disc there was lines at the bottom of the screen that'll pop up as if they were transfering the image to VHS to DVD and remasterd it that way but that didn't hurt the viewing experience. Honestly I didn't have a problem with this collection theres also a buying option for lite edition? Which is basically looks like the same but used and they charged the same price as the new so yeah i didn't get that 1 I don't trust people. The only problem I have which is why I gave it only a 4/5 stars is the asking price I'm sorry but if you want me to pay $70 I want a big box set and why not, also throw in the 1st deluxe edition manga or I don't know a berserk statue of Slan or Guts...I mean im paying $70 at least give me more I mean really this should have been $30 bucks new so if you don't want to buy this I don't blame you, you can also watch ALL the episodes for FREE on youtube (...thats unless of course youtube didn't take it down yet hopefully not) the only reason why I bought this is because I'm old school and I still perfer to have physical copy of my stuff also finding this on disc is a pain many people selling this are literally selling it for 100s of dollars so this is the cheapest I could find theres also a $30 version on blu-ray on Amazon too but people are complaining it doesn't work because of there region which that's 1 thing I should mention about this DVD set is that its Region 1 on my xbox one it doesn't work but on my ps4 and my blue ray player it plays fine 1 thing that bugs me about this edition though is that theres no commentary I REALLY wanted to hear the dub cast people talk on how this came to be instead all we get in the extras is trailers of other anime, outtakes (which were pretty fun to listen to i must admit) and concept sketches. Who knows maybe its in the blue ray version that we get commentary overall if your new to Berserk I HIGHLY recommend the original 97 anime I also recommend reading the manga too 'The lost Childers' ark is one of my favorites im a HUGE Berserk fan I really wished they added more episodes to the 97 version I never did like the reboot that happed in 2016 with the weird 3d animation i perfer my anime only in 2d format which I did hear that supposedly there working on a 3rd season and it's going to be in 2d so that'll be cool if thats true.

Time To Go Berserk
Cut from the pages of the long running and popular manga, this is Berserk the complete collection. A medieval style war anime with moving storylines, tragic characters and some demonic monsters thrown in for good measure. The story begins with the lone mercenary referred to only as Guts joining a small group of warriors known as the 'Band of the hawk'. Together the hulking brute that is Guts and the Hawks charismatic leader fight alongside the midland army to try and despel to the villainous tudor empire. What ensues is a violent yet moving anime that needs to be seen by all anime fans. As you progress through this collection of 25 episodes, it is difficult not to grow attached to the fantastic cast of characters and be drawn into each of their intriguing back stories. This, alongside a smooth flowing storyline makes for some really addictive watching. For an anime that was made in 1997, Berserk sure looks like it could have been made a decade earlier, however, once you get into the story, the animation will be the last thing on your mind. As well as offering bucket loads of blood and great characters, Berserk also has a decent musical score and a umber of themes such as friendship, devotion and tragedy that are very well created and brought forward. The only thing that I didn't like about this series is that it is too short. So much so that when the ending credits of the final episode I felt as if the series had only scratched the surface of the story...and that is pretty much true because the anime only covers the first story arc of the manga. In my opinion, the anime version of berserk should have, and most definetly could have gone on for much longer. Furthermore, the series has the tendency to be a little inconsistent due to it clumsily switching back and forth between a 'war' anime and a 'monster' anime. A problem that could have been avoided if the show was a bit longer. One last niggle - I advise you watch the Japanese language of the show becaused the English dub is shocking at times. Berserk is undeniably deserving of it's 18 certificate with it's extreme and unrelenting violence as well as some rape scenes. So this is definetly not one for younger viewers. Gore fans are sure to get their fill with this show; especially with the last two episodes which will make Urotsukidoji seem like the Teletubbies and Gantz look like the Power rangers. This complete collection set of Berserk contains all the episodes over 6 discs in a compact single DVD case. The extra features are quite impressive with a selection of outakes and trailers on every disc as well as some interviews and featurettes. Berserk is an incredibly well made show that has a few minor flaws but nothing big enough to disrupt the overall enjoyment of it. Like I said before, every anime fan needs to see this show. A show that has often lurked under the anime radar, Berserk is a true cult classic.

Fantastic Series
I love the manga for this, the original anime is pretty good too though I don't like the way they moved away from it being quite so magical. Still one of my all time favourites and the box and case is fantastic for all the artwork!

All time Legend!
Hands down, the top 5 Animes ever produced. Bloody, violent and excellent story telling. Make sure you start watching from the second episode and then watch the first at the end. The boxed set is nice and the discs are of excellent quality. It's been a few years since I watched these, so worth revisiting the entire adventure again!
